So... I want to take the seat's cover/skin (whatever it's called) off and wash it.
Do I just stick it in a washing machine and use cold wash/cold rinse and that's it?
Also, is there a certain way to take the cover/skin off that works better than others?
Sorry but I couldn't find any info on this from searching... most of the results came up on the old picture threads and what not...

I did my brand new bride seat, it was red... They came out brighter with no fade
Just make sure its cold washed and hang dryed as the dryer will fade the fabric.

Thanks man, I'll keep that in mind.

And the dryer could SHRINK the fabric too...... or make it twist and tweak funny and not fit back on right....

I tried the dry cleaner with a friends black one, before I did mine... it faded it around the edges.

Well, right this moment, I'm kinda poor (won't be in a month), so for now I'll just wash it in the washing machine.
Next time I'll try the dry cleaning.

OK, just got the fabric off, after I figured out how it was attached to the bucket itself.
There is a metal cable that runs through the outter edge to keep the tension on the fabric when it's stretched over the bucket itself...
I'm wondering, what kind of material is this cable? Because if I throw it in the washer, and it's steel, it could rust like a mofo and break?
I guess I'm gonna magnet test it real quick...
Meanwhile, did your Bride seat have a cable like that kuruptR?

OK magnet test came back positive.
It is a steel cable, which means water is no no...
Errr.... really wish I could just wash it in the washing machine...
I tried to pull the cable out, but it proved to be too much of a PITA to make it work... unless I have like 25 yds of fishing line tied to 1 end of the cable to pull it through with...

I already took it off.
The main thing that I wanted to clean was the wear pads... they have a kind of discoloration on them, so I just thought I'd wash it real quick and clean it up a bit.
That way it'll only be my sweat on it from here on out :)
But damn, I'm guessing the fishing line + pulling the cable route is my only option if I want to throw it in the washing machine....?

haha, no, I haven't.
When I pulled the cushions off of the seat, I noticed that it actually could be missing a foam pad, so I'm going to Walmart tonight and getting me a thing of foam and see if that helps.
If not, then I guess it's biting the bullet and buying a Bride one.
Why not just dry clean it? Go for chemicals when you can't use water.

So, after getting in touch with kuruptR through PM, he told me that the cable, despite being steel, is the same type of material as the cables manufacturers use to make e-brake cables out of, so it should be safe to toss in the washing machine.
I then threw mine in the washing machine and hang dried.
Came out really good!
Smells good now.
The dark brown spots are still there though (didn't work Jerry :( ), so I might have to look into using some fabric dye to get it black again.
