Steering rack hard line size?

Just wondering if anyone knows the sizes of the hard line fittings connected to the steering rack and where I might be able to get them?

Went to all the auto parts stores around here to get some brake lines and the only metric fittings they had were bubble flares.

Checked with the local dealer and was told they don't have the line in stock and I need to get new lines asap so want to bend my own.

If anyone knows where I can find the fittings or where I can get brake line with the fittings already on then let me know.

Definitely suggest grabbing some lines off a junkyard car... there are enough junked KA-DE's out there that finding them shouldn't be too hard... it would be cheaper to bend your own, but how much is the time/hassle worth? Plus they're not the simplest things in the world to get to fit, and I know bending them as tight as PS lines have to be isn't easy with the crap tools those places have for rent.

Not really any junk yards around me especially with 240's there.

I would prefer bending my own, just can't seem to find the fittings or anyone who sells brake line with the correct fittings.

I have bent brake line before and have all the tools if I need to cut and re flare and what not.

So like I said if anyone knows online where I might be able to get the correct line or fittings then let me know.

Oh and just want to verify so I'm not looking for the wrong thing, are the rack lines 1/4 or 3/8? in size?

i bent mine while taking out the engine/trans so i got a 1/4 in line, cut the ends, bent it, and used the old fittings and flared it, is this for a s14, not sure if theres a difference? i might be able to get stock ones for s14, maybe...

The old fittings were all dry rotted and rusted in so I fucked 3 out of 4 of them when pulling the lines out.

So really just need to find somewhere I can order the fittings and I can just pick up some brake line at the local auto place.

Try this for the hard line. We've done it on a few cars now including mine. Works great. Fuck oem nissan and their shitty lines.


On second read I see you are looking for those hard lines on the rack not the hard line that goes from pump to rack. I got nothing for you.

Just use metric to AN adapters and bend some 1/4"(-4) or even -3 hardlines and flare to 37 degree. You'll need a tube nut and sleeve on each end as well.

Then you'll have baller AN stuff. The most expensive parts will be the adapters, the other stuff is pretty cheap. The flaring tool is like $50-60(you want an AN flaring tool, 37 degrees, not an SAE 45 deg flare).
