Hey how it going guys, this is my very first "thread" although I have been a member for about 2 years. Well I get straight to the point and before you guys even start thinking about http://images.nicoclub.com/forums/images/smilies/lock.gif , please read. I have done plenty of research and I just cant get the answers that I need. So please help a fellow 240 owner. http://images.nicoclub.com/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif (btw I've posted in another forum as well)
My car got flooded about a few months ago (base 95 NISSAN 240SX 5speed) , thankfully my engine was safe and almost everything works on the car. Some of the things that got damaged by the flood were the fusebox inside the car and the alternator; with the battery getting drained as the water made the ground and the positive connect to each other.
To fix it I replaced the battery only to find out the alternator was bad so I headed for autozone and replaced it. To make sure it was all going smoothly I drove the car to autozone to get the alternator checked. Unfortunately it read: (ZERO) which they told me it was somewhat odd since it usually reads low. So because it was bad I was able to return it and get a new one put in, but before I installed this new alternator, I got it tested "before" I messed with it. Ok so since it read that it was good, I installed it with no worries. Well guess what? I was Wrong!!! Thanks to may damn luck the same sh*t happened again!!! The car still wont charge the battery (it reads 12volts while idling) http://www.nicoclub.com/Noah/d2td.gif
I dont know what to do now; I have checked my wires and all seem to be ok the alternator cannot be the problem; what i have gathered in my reasearch says that there is a 100a fusible link thats in between the battery and the alternator (info at: http://www.240edge.com/manuals/95_240sx/el.pdf Under: "charging system"). I am not sure if that is true as I havent been able to find it!!! It pisses me off just to think about it. I've searched all over for it and nothing; zip; zero; zilch; nada!! People talk about it but where exactly is it? I need a picture of some sort maybe with it i can take it from there.

thanks

sorry for the big picture.... found it on google.

anyways. it should be the blue one? if not it's the 75 amp one. at least on an s13 its the 75 amp fuse for the alternator.

Also, is your battery light on on the cluster?

thanks for the help although this picture is different. it did help. found the fusible link; its a 75a not a 100a. and its still in good shape so i guess something else is wrong. Will have to find out. but thanks. hopefully other people can spread their knowledge as well.

after flood damage i would completely check all the wiring making sure nothing got melted when it was shorted out i would also completely check every single fuse in the car...

that fusible link is it soft or like sterdy. cause those fuckin links can be burned out and you cant even tell. basically the alternator wire and the battery wire bolt up to the starter. and while the starter not being use the current flows from the alternator to the starter bolt where the battery wire is bolted on to and goes through the batery wire to the battery. so if the link is burned then current can go through.
