So I just finished installing my exhaust, and oil/coolant lines for the turbo and I turn on the car to check for leaks. I noticed that the oil feed line for the turbo is leaking and running down the turbo. I know that I put these on correctly and they are fully threaded down. I also used two of the brass washers that came with the kit. I also used a little thread lock pipe sealer, just a little bit. The banjo bolt went to the block and the straight restrictor fitting went to the turbo. I just don't know what to do. Any suggestions? I just don't feel like taking a look at it tonight any longer.

I installed the oil feed line like this one without the teflon tape.

Thanks for the help!!!

are you using teflon tape/pipe dope for the "an" fittings? b/c they seal by the flare only DO NOT use any tape or dope on those threads and by the pics it looks like you have some type of sealer on those, also dont use it on the restrictor where it bolts to the turbo it also seals by the flare. when you bolt the water adapters to the turbo the use an aluminum crush washer.

That image was an image I found on the interweb... I used the washer on the restrictor where it meets the center cartrige on the turbo. I'm thinking now that I shouldn't have used the washer as I believe that the thread is an NPT thread...

Guess I'll have to take it off to find out...

the restrictor on the center section is a 7/16 -24 inverted flare fitting it seals with the flare only if you used a washer thats probably why it would leak

Had this same problem when i installed mine....

Problem was a faulty/bad seal around the "neck" of the feedline, where it makes a 90* turn down.....

Needless, to say, I was given a replacement, and the problem went away

can you use oem copper crush washers instead of the aluminum ones?

Nope, shouldn't have used a washer there. You use crush washers on the banjo bolt where it goes to the block, and nothing - no sealants, no washers, nothing - where the fittings go into the turbo.

I don't think that I have a faulty seal on the fitting itself. I tested the vaccum of the line with the good old suck test.

I'm guessing that the copper washers are the issue as Shift mentioned. I used them on the banjo fitting to the block. I do not think that the NPT thread is fully seated on the turbo creating the proper seal that it should...

Is it a NPT thread, I think it is. I noticed a taper but I can not fully remember.

I really don't want to take off the whole turbo to get to it either. I have to take off one of the coolant lines connecting the turbo to get to the feed line. I also guess that I have to drain my oil, correct?

Thanks again for the help!!!

in the same situation, to confirm the 2 small washers go on each side of the banjo fitting for the oil feed line on the block but where do the other 3 bigger washers go? someone here posted that don't use any on the turbo side so that just leaves one for the coolant line to the block? and some else said to use it on the coolant lines on the turbo side? don't mean to threadjack but it seems simple enough but misleading from everything ive read.

ok heres the break down, one washer on each side of the banjo bolt. that will leave 3 washers, (if you bought a kit) one washer goes on the block (water feed, between the adapter fitting and the block), the other 2 go between the adapter fitting and the turbo, there are no National pipe threads for a basic install, so there is no need for any teflon or pipe dope.

Everything seems to be fine. I think there is a little oil left on my turbo from the prevous leak because it is smoking a little bit. But as I can tell right now, not leaks!

Thanks guys!
