Power will come from a Toyota 3.5-liter V-6 with variable valve timing, tuned to produce 276 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque, and Lotus says the car clears the 0-to-60-mph sprint in less than five seconds and tops out around 160 mph.

Those HP figures are kind of weak, but I guess that the car probably weighs nothing anyway.

article says something along the lines of being priced above the the Elise. A conservative estimate would probably be somewhere around 50k?

Power comes from a toyota N/A 3.5l v-6 w/ 276hp, probably from the Camry. that is my biggest complaint. very unsexy imo. Weight is around 2950lbs. 0-60 in low 5's is nothing to write home about. Even my pos-porky 3,600 lb evo can do that! Mid-engine layout is about the only selling point. Unless the chassis is truly spectacular, or there are other details that have not been mentioned, I do not see anything outstanding and/or revolutionary about the Evora. Styling is also somewhat generic, even if mildly pleasing imo.

I am really not impressed at all. I'd gladly take an S2k or 350z, even if the cost the same. I don't see how this can compete with the Cayman-S or the M-Coupe. the bar for the $50k and above luxo-performance cars is very high these days. I'd rather Lotus just stick to building and improving the Elise or develop something worthy of an Esprit successor.

If the Evora was sold 10-15yrs ago, it would have probably warranted much more controversy. I see this as too little, too late. I am not going to lose any sleep over the fact that it might not be sold in the US.

hrm, I didn't notice that the Cayman S and M Coupe weigh roughly the same

Lotus needs to slap some turbos on that while keeping it under 50k or else it's gonna be hard to differentiate it from the rest of the market

That, or shave a few hundred pounds off

Specs aren't that imposing

I am sure by 2010, they will have something different. in few two years, the engine technology had improved a lot. more powerful, and more efficient

maybe this sports car will get 40mpg by 2010 lol

That car is pure sex. If I were rich I would buy one right off the lot, ditch the v6 and install a 690 hp ls9 v8 in that thing with a t50 transaxle. Make it streetable though, rubber mounts, quiet exhaust, working ac, etc.

Then It would be up to the task of being an attainable, reliable, supercar.

Remember this is just the first version they've come out with.

They had the elise then they had the 111s and r models, and they have the exige and the exige s.

Won't be suprised if this thing ends up blown or turboed as well.

Its supposed to be 45k pounds so around 80k dollars. At that price it's kinda mediocre.

I actually kinda like that long nose...

Of course this is coming from the guy who wants to slap a supercharged 5.4 into a Crown Victoria...
