Now I am just wondering what people think about stroking a ka. I personally think it can't be done, but a company i was talking to said that they are going to have one out for the ka by sometime in FEB. I have see how thin the walls between the on the ka are. They said that they are going to up the displacement to 2.5 or 2.6. I don't think it can be done, What do you think?

scroll down and you will see the advert. for it, I called them asking about there rebuilds, and the guy told me about the stroker kit. I still think it can't be done...

Correct me if I'm wrong but JUST a stroker kit would change the stroke and wouldn't involve new, larger, pistons would it? Maybe if it does then they will include new cylinder sleeves. But I doubt they will.

The KA is already pretty well stroked. . . I can't think of a reason why it can't be done, though (without seeing the inside of the motor). You're looking at an 8% increase in size, divide that among four cylinders, you aren't looking at a huge increase in travel. I don't have the cylinder specs, and prolly wouldn't do the math even if I did. Anyhow, it'd be interesting to hear about.

I'm sure the factory built in plenty of room to grow in the KA for safety/durability reasons. My only question is... why bother?

You would bother to give it more displacement, or N/A tuning. I can't imagine a good way for turbo, I think it would increase compression too much to be worthwhile.

The stroke is already 96mm, though. High piston speeds and tons of rod angularity, oh boy!

This is a case of diminishing returns, methinks. If someone can make decent power from a KA with over 100mm stroke, well, more power to them!

why in the world would you want to increase the stroke of the KA?? if anything, i would de-stroke that beeyotch and possibly gain myself some extra revs (ignoring valve float and whatnot). it's bad enough the engine acts like a truck engine, lets not make it like a friggin semi now.

stroking the engine requires making a new crank. If it sounds like a good idea, then make us a shorter stroke crank too. I want a 2.2L 10,000rpm turbo machine. Here comes valve float...

ehh.. ain't nuttin' some stiff valve springs can't fix. :) if your taking the time to destroke it, might as well get the Head done at the same time. :)

(lol... stroke my crank, and tune my head. )

Engine projects are always money pools. I have seen it said a hundred times, "As long as your going to ****, then why don't you *** and *** the *** while you **** the ****, and while your at it...". Personally I don't think the KA should be stroked, why not just hone the b*tch if your looking for a rebuild.

I talked about building a stroker KA once before. Crower makes custom stroker kits...pistons, rods, and crank. The QR25 in the new Spec V and Altima has the same bore as the KA, and a 100mm stroke. I never investigated...but I hoped the cylinder spacing would be the same; I could modify the crank and use it.

i agree. i would rather destroke it. by destroking it i think you'd get a bit higher redline, and also hp.
