I was having a hard time trying to find a way to tap my upper water neck for my breather tank. So my first solution was to buy a s14 water neck because it has an extra port on it. Well that did not really help me too much, because I ran into the same problem I did with my s13 water neck. I could not find a npt to hose fitting in the right size.

So seeing that the only npt to hose fitting I came across that was close enough to fit was a 3/8 brass fitting at advance auto. The s13 water neck I was not using had a stripped breather bolt. I have a tap n die kit that has a 3/8 attachment on it. So if it did not work I was not loosing out on anything.

I drilled out the breather bolt with a 5/16 bit(just a bit smaller than the brass fitting so the tap n die would have some metal to catch on to) and used some plumbers tape and liquid gasket to make a good seal.

Here are a few pics:

This is a temporary fix. Im going to relocate the tank after I do a wire tuck. That way I can get rid of the crappy bracket next to my valve cover.

Feel free to leave a comment.

thats why i liked the greddy kit
came w/ the nipple fitting for the water neck.

i found out the breather did next to nothing for me.
temps lowered a bit. but ends up i bled my old system well enough and w/ a water pump pulley on it was useless. i took it off and saw next to no temp differences. and yes i have a digtal temp gauge, not a tsock.

ends up it was a waste of money to get one of those.
fyi.

Ive heard people who like them, and thoes who have not. I got a good deal from pbm so I figured why not. I think it helps, im not sure yet. I have not driven hard on it yet.

A suggeston that I have is to go to a Parker store. They will give you the correct fitting with the correct hose and everything that you will need for the hose barb. You would need the correct tap drill and tap for the fitting.

I have a question regarding the breather tank. What is the purpose of it connecting to the upper neck?

Thats exactly how I set mine up... except the little nipple they provided broke off into the breather hole... had to drill it out and tap a new deal
