i'm buying a kenwood CD player but i have a question. how important is signal to noise ratio on a CD player? can you tell a difference in dB's?

one player i really like, for $329, plays MP3's on a single disc (CD-RW's too) so i can have 125 songs on one CD, but it has a 93 db signal to noise ratio and a manual flip face.

the other one for $279, which is the 'lesser' model has a motorized face, comes with a remote, does not play MP3's or CD-RW's but does have a signal to noise ratio of 105db.

whichever i get is going to be an improvement in s/n ratio from my old sony (90db). my question is, would i notice a huge difference between the too kenwoods?

if i understand it correctly...it will depend on how loud you play your music...if you blast it like i do...then you may notice a slight difference...if you play it at a normal level...then the interference will be almost negligible...don't quote me on any of this though....

if all else fails....you can try to find an car audio store that might have them set up on one of the wall displays and test them out....

if you havent bought it yet don't do it. i am on my second kenwood cd changer. this one is 4 months old and for no reason it broke. my last one skipped with every bass note sold it to get another ( i have a kenwood deck with cd changer controls and disk naming, so i had to buy a kenwood again) anyways i parked the car took cd cartridge out put it in the next day and it didn't work. it seems that the sensor pick up and some other shit is broken. 180$ to get it fixed. i would definatly try some other brand other than kenwood.

signal to noise ratio...bigger is better..the bigger the the number the more crisp the CD music would sound...but i don't think you would really notice anything...a 93 sig to noise ratio is good enuff...
