I want one.

Anyone have one?

Are they as awesome and effective as they look?

a buddy of mine has one, i hate it. if you want to work out, just go to a garage sale and score some free weights. roll up a pack of marlboro reds in your sleeve and pump iron in the garage

I hate using machines. Machines are for girly-men.
Free weights/barbells/dumbells for the win.

Those Bowflex machines are priced so high, the only
Boxflex product I like are these:

Ah shit.

I forgot about those.

Yeah but free weights aren't as bad ass looking.

I mean come on, dhe shredded dude told me I would get HUUUUUUUUGE with the bowflex.

I have a whole free-weight setup in my basement and I thought about picking up a bowflex just to add some exercises, thinking it was gonna be like $300. When I found out it was $1000 and up I couldn't believe it. You can get a decent bench, barbell, dumbbells and plenty of weights for about half that and get a better workout as well. Seriously, what a ripoff!

My mom was going to give me one as a present once but when they found out that it was a few grand they decided against it

My friend had one in his garage it belonged to his brother that was in the army they gave it to him fro free but this was when they first came out. I tried it out for about a hour and i wasn't sold i prefer the weights over this

Free weights. Push ups. Sit ups. Chin ups. Run, not jog... RUN, do it in boots and pants and find some sand if you're near a beach and get a real workout.

You'll be in better shape then nearly all guys doing Bowflex or machines in their basement.

Often being in good all round shape isn't going to make you look "buff" or like a bodybuilder, which is often what most people using those machines seem to be after.

It's cheaper to!

Fuck being in shape.

I just want huge muscles so I can pick up bitches with hair like this.

haha.

Huge muscles does not equal strength neccesarily.

I'd much rather not maybe look as good as some guys, but be in far better shape when it matters. ;)

Why do you have to be different, just do it the normal way.

Personally, I think the bowflex stuff is too bulky and those resistance bars can be a pain in the ass. The new one for nasa looks nice, the only way I'd use one though is if I was in space... And everything was weightless... And I HAD to use resistance.

Since that's not likely, Free weights ftw. Dips, pushups, ftw.

i got the oldskool soloflex
http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/productImages/2/1/00000105521-SoloflexClassic-large.jpeg
Classic Soloflex | Soloflex (http://www.soloflex.com/category/5732748861/1/Classic-Soloflex.htm)
i got all the attachments.. for leg curls, butterflys, squats etc.. Can set it up for incline sit ups etc.. Or use the bench for free weights. bought it like over 10 years ago used for cheap.. I didnt know they still sell parts for em. Rubberband resistance sucks, but enough to tone up.. I got it left for pull ups right now.

Got me pretty cut in highschool.. then after that, became a slouch, work and school etc.. Last year tho, went to the gym, way better then that.

A friend of mine hit up a closing YMCA and got thier weight equipment for free, the good weight machines.

Gym membership > free weights> machine > nothing.

At least you dont want to let yourself go, which is good. Alot of guys i know would say everything is a waste of money, frankly i doubt they ever played sports or ever carired about their physic.

For the price of that machine, Gym membership is better, your motivated to go and its nice. When you got the stuff at home, you will hardly use it or not push yourself hard. When i used to go to teh gym, id push myself hard with the idea that after this, imma go home and my day will be over. lol.

a buddy of mine has it. he used it for like a month, then stopped. i guess it kinda works if you're there for a while. that whole 30 minutes a day thing kinda only works when you're already physically fit. i prefer good ole free weights. do those and protein shakes and more weights. you'll get "beefy" :keke:

thats the blinged out perfect pushup lol
i got the $20 walmart one lol still same thing tho just plastic/no chome

People who dont have the bowflex tho, giving alternatives really dont help his question.

As far as how effective will it be? its only as effective as what you put into it. like C.senor said, you might be like "oh man this is tight" for a month then start to slack on it... What sucks about work out equipment, NEW SHIT COMES OUT ALL THE TIME.. some guy will discover a new technique machine every year. remember back when those ab-sit up curler machines came out years ago? everyone had to have one.. you dont see em anymore.

Check out some workout bicycles or threadmils on craigslist, would help slim up, then free weights.

I have free weights... a bench, a treadmill (even though I think they are pointless and boring, I'd rather just go run through the park or something), heavy bag, a bar for chin ups and junk in my garage.

I used to have a gym membership, but I'm not to keen on bathing in other peoples sweat, and touching shit they put there grubby sweaty little hands on.

o .. the gym i went to was a small one, mostly firefighters and executives.. very clean.

The beauty of a treadmill is this, get a mp3 player, blast through 20 minutes at a steady pace like nothing.. Easy. If you can run/jog for 20 minutes without stopping, well I tip my hat off to you lol

When I run.

I stretch. Walk. Jog. Then run my hardest to my old Elementary School, do a lap around it's field and sprint back then jog the rest of my street to warm down.

I fucking hate running. :spank:

:keke:

My runs usually consist of 30ish mins. of running, 4-5 miles depending on pace and terrain. No treadmills for me, just an indoor track when it's winter. lol

I highly doubt that's real.

I have a blowflecks total gym whatchamacallit...

Its nice. I dont think 130lbs in resistance is actually 130 lbs... but it does its job.

And I got it for like 400 bucks brand new. Guy had it, used it once, and never used it for like 2 years lol.
