Will I die if I run this combination?

I do not believe so, as far as I know the spindles are the same.

By the naked eye the ball joints look the same, but I read this.

"They may look the same, but the S13 ball joint cannot safely be bolted to the S14 spindle. The taper is slightly different and though they will bolt together, the ball joint will quickly come loose or break. Nissan only sells complete control arms with the ball joints pressed in, and S14 control arms are too long for S13s. The only option is to use aftermarket ball joints. We used Moog joints for a 1995 240SX and pressed them into our S13 arms. Before attempting to press out the ball joint, don't forget to dig through the grease and remove the snap ring."

"Also, the ball joint is different. At first glance, the S13 and S14 ball joints look the same, and upon closer inspection, they still look the same. Don't be fooled. The S14 ball joint uses a slightly different taper. Although it will bolt together, using an S13 ball joint on the S14 spindle can lead to a very dangerous suspension failure. You must switch to an S14 ball joint. Nissan doesn't sell S14 ball joints separately from the lower control arm, and, of course, the S14 control arm is too long. Pressing the ball joint out of your S13 control arm and pressing in an aftermarket ball joint (we used Moog part number K9820) is the best solution."
They are talking about using an S13 ball joint with an S14 spindle, I'm not sure how it would be the other way around. I bolted them up and everything fits fine, but I wouldn't want them coming loose and/or breaking while driving.

Think about it. If it doesn't work one way, why would it work the other? Yes, the joint physically will fit but the taper doesn't match. If it did no one would have to swap ball joints.
Rnz- 'As far as you know' a large penis might fit in your ass. Does that mean you want it there? No. Don't assume things, point out a proven fact or don't bother posting. The spindles are NOT the same.

I thought people use s14 control arms on the s13's for more camber or something like that? why does it say its too long?

Makes sense, I was just hoping to hear someone assure me that it'll be fine, even though I doubted it, to be honest I'm just seriously not looking forward to swapping the ball joints.

That's the reason I got them. It's ironic how the article went through all that trouble to not use the S14 control arms, while I'm trying to do the opposite, haha.

u use s14 front lower control arms when swapping to s14 five lug, although i do belive s14 rear control arms allow for more camber...on an s14 not s13

okay guys this is how it works. the s14 spindle DOES NOT WORK with the s13 ball joint. the s13 ball joint is slighty tapered and you cannot completey bolt it on.
seeing as how i have s14 spindles on my s13, this is what you do:
either use s14 lower control arms that have s14 ball joints,
or you use s14 ball joints on your s13 lower control arms (which is what i did)
PROBLEM SOLVED. END THREAD. PLEASE LOCK.

you can buy ball joints for the s13 front lower control arm, but not the rear control arm

dude n ones even talking about the rear control arm! seriously i already answered this just pay attention.
matej you got s13 spindles? get s13 ball joints
THE BALL JOINT AND SPINDLE MUST MATCH, REGARDLESS OF WHAT CHASIS OR LCA YOU USE. THEY MUST MATCH!

It's not too long, they're 15mm longer. Maybe they mean too long to not need an alignment.

Well, I'm off to go rent a ball joint puller tool.
Although I've heard that some of the tools don't work with the 240 ball joints, is there a specific kind I should use?

yes, a big socket to catch the ball joint and a big hammer to beat it out.

go to autozone and rent the balljoint puller, works like a charm with a bit of elbow grease

You can do it. Just make sure the nutt is tight and some grease, with loctite on the nutt...!!
I have this on my C34 laurel... its been 6 months and nothing is loose yet.. :-/

Bringing this thread back, does anyone have a good trick to get the ball joints in the arms?
I already got the S14 ones out and bought S13 ball joints, and I even tried the freezing method, but they don't seem to want to go in. I've been hitting them with a hammer, but I'm afraid I'll damage them.

36mm socket against the ball joint, then hammer on it.
Or use a press.

Yeah I'll probably just go to a friendly shop in the morning and use a proper press.

Hey does anyone know if anyone has tried J30 spindles?
Thing is the LSD already works perfect and easy same with the rear spindles which give 5 lug and same as Z or skyline backing plates and inner drum.
So from the same car I'm getting all these goodies I want to buy the spindles which already have upgraded brakes on them. The junk yard I'm buying from is high on parts so I'd like to know before I buy some and find out they don't work.
Also does anyone know what ball joints the J30 uses?????????? I can't find them at autozone.
Obviously since these are so close and can't tell them apart I need to get it right so I'm not going to just try it I just want to simply replace the ball joint.

1) This thread is two years old.
2) J30 front control arms and/or ball joints will not work on an Schassis.
