During my headgasket replacement, the part when you put the headgasket on then the head on. Both block and head surfaces were clean, then I tilted the head on it's back (firewall side) so I could clean the bottom up one last time. I then put it back down on my table on it's mating surface while I sprayed the HG and cleaned the block. I installed the HG then the head and torqued down bolts once. Wasn't planning on unscrewing and re-torquing.

The head surface was completely clean, but after I tilted it back and then back again some oil must have moved around, because i saw a little oil on my table where the head was sitting. Oil was on the exhaust side, at the back of the head. A small bit, and the head was on some plastic so i'm hoping the plastic took most of it.

Does anyone know if having a little oil on the head before clamping it down to the block is bad? I'm thinking about loosening all the bolts, lifting it up a little and cleaning the gasket.

Any recommendations are welcome, this sucks!
