So...I put the ebrake down and my ebrake light stays on in the gauge.
The brakes are not locked up or anything, they're free, whats the remedy to fixing this? this just started yesterday. It actually turned off after a mile of driving yesterday, but I drove today and it stayed on the whole time.

if your not low on fluid the button under the console could be messed up. but more than likely your low on fluid.

Sam as mine it hasnt been 5 years. But when i put s14 interior in a s13 the console hit the ebrake button which made it stay on all the time.

That light is only turned on by 2 things: the ebrake switch and the fluid reservoir sensor.

Yo Vinny, my car did the same thing twice. The first time was when my brakes were all messed up and low on fluid, you should remember that and the other time was when I had my e-brake adjusted super tight and it wouldn't fit flush so the button was always pressed. If that's not the problem then hit me up and I'll come help you figure it out. BTW I need to see the S14 anyway cuz I need to measure it out for spacerz.

I know this may sounds wierd but if for some reason its not your brake fluid at all, in some rare cases it can be your alternator I heard. Random I know but something to contribute if worse comes to worse is all.

also in some cars it mean rear brake light.
Alternator bad = battery lights + brake indicator i think.

Bingo. They light up in parallel if it's the alternator. A brake problem will NOT trip the charge light though.

bumping it a bit, i'm having problem with the cluster brake light too(s13 cluster)
it makes some sort of buzzing noise when the light is coming on but not fully lit, and after driving a bit it seems like whenever i step on the gas it will turn off, but when i let off the gas it will turn on again
when the that sensor thats at the bottom of the BMC it still stays lit, and same when the plug is disconnected at the back of the handbrake
but when i turn the car to "ON" without starting it up, it would work properly

Check your engine control fuse buddy. I bet you that 10 amp is blown. Take it out and find out whats wrong. Fix it. Then put a new fuse back in. Should be good to go. I had the same problem not to long ago. Turns out it was a sensor on the back of my block on my ka that kept shorting out. I replaced the sensor and wire and fuse doesnt pop anymore. PM me if you have any questions.

Edit: OMFG!!! your the man! that fuse IS blown, hopefully replacing that will help my idle problem

this happened to me recently. turned out that the piece of metal on the brake handle bent so that it did not push the switch when ebrake handle was down all the way. other reasons could cause this, obviously

Wow same shit is happening to me now. My E Brake light is flickering when im driving. Now i know that it is not my fluid level because it's filled.
So it has to be either the E Brake switch, or the fluid sensor.

i had the same problem when i bought my '91 hatch, it wasnt the button or the fluid, someone told me it was the sensor on the brake fluid resivoir, i had a short on a sensor on the back of the motor i fixed the short and the light went away i dont know waht it had to do with it but it fixed it

maybe you have a loose connection in the harness going to switch. does it flicker when you turn or go over bumps?

They've told me about it being early signs of alternator giving out. Just a thought. Unsure if that can be it, in your case.

thanks for input im not sure i have an extra alt might try it
This just started happening to me. New alternator in mine and fluid level is normal.

I found out my problem. It was my harness getting chewed up by my fender. have since repaired the harness and tucked it safely. No "Brake" lights and no further problems.

I was just about to suggest this.
One of the signs that my harness was on it's way out was the brake light. Any time I drove the car in the rain, the water would splash onto the wires and short them together, causing the light to turn on and off.

For future reference, the connectors that run by your main fuse box power the dash lights, example; if you unplug all of them and then turn the key on, then off, all your dash lights will stay on signifying a broken connection in that junction.
Just food for thought
