I was browsing one of craigslist for an s14 and I happen to come along this post:

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/833302996.html (http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/833302996.html).

So, I email Dave. He responds back with the following email.

"Hi,
First of all,i must apologize for my reticence with selling my car.I love this car and it means a lot to me.I am forced by a bank loan to sell it.The loan does not involved her ,but i need the money and i must do that.It is in perfect condition, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches, dings, special marks whatsoever.I have the pictures hosted on the net and you can see them at :
http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk84/irine22u/my%20car/ (http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk84/irine22u/my%20car/)

I need to know you, even if that means by email before i sell you the car.Even if i seem a little paranoid,i will not sell this car to anyone.I took very good care of her and i feel very attached to her.The price is $4500 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental US. There are no other costs regarding this transaction. The transaction will be closed only through Ebay Purchase Program which will cover the purchases up to 20,000 USD.Please also provide me with the following details necessary to take a decision:
-your full name and shipping address
and this way we will both be protected. My time is limited so I decided to use a service from Ebay Purchase Program.
If you agree with my terms,i will need your full name and shipping address and i will contact ebay to inform them about our agreement and to start the program to protect us.If this is ok with you and you want me to explain how the process works, please email me and i will do that.
Thank you and i will wait for your email."

Just a couple of days ago, my bro emails me about a similiar post. I check craigslist again for the post but it's not there. I also search ebay and nothing. What do you guys think? Scam?

Someone already flagged his post because it's not on craigslist. I did not reply back to his email...maybe if I decide to sell my s13, I am going to get to know the person before I sell it to them. Maybe invite them over for dinner. lol...

there's no such thing as an ebay purchase plan. they send some fake link for you to transfer money too and that's how they get your money.

Craigslist purchases more than $200 = Scam.
Cars sold on Ebay = Scam.
Paypal = Scam.
Wire transfers = Scam.
International money orders = Scam.
Payments in excess of the agreed upon amount for anything = Scam.
3rd party checks = Scam.
Business drawn checks = Scam.

You guys act like the internet just began yesterday. All this shit has gone on for nearly 20 years. It's ALL a scam. Buy in person, pay in person in cash, drive off. Anything else you're going to get fucked.

Sure, the 'eBay Purchase Program' will protect you, in a sale outside of eBay.

People still fall for these scams?

...and yes, if it's too good to be true, IT IS A SCAM.

You're not gonna find that car for $4500, no matter what the seller says as to his 'reason'.

C'mon, man...
