i recently picked up my friends dohc transmission and bought a shifter with the little white part on it from someone here on zilvia. the white part does not fit into the transmission it is a little bit too big. could this one be for a sohc tranny? i dont think it will go in even with alot of force..

I'm pretty sure that the doch and soch trannys are the same if u bought a shifter u sould change the bushing anyway cuz the one that comes on short shifters suck.u gotta kinda force it in there ishould go in just lube it up with the tranny fluid

yeah DOHC and SOHC trannys are the same. Force that bitch on their and it will take all the slop out of the shifter

It should fit. It is just a little tricky to get it lined up sometimes since it pivots, especially if it is a cheapie shifter and the bushing is all floppy.

The Nismo Shop : West Covina Nissan : Nissan OEM Shifter Bushing (http://www.thenismoshop.com/ikorb.php?func=catalog&category_id=1255&product_id=12213)
They are tuff to put in
I picked up a new Short shifter and it was a tight fit
Line up the white bushing straight and use your palm to hammer it in

it seems like the bushing is too tough to even flex into the hole. im thinkin of just putting a chisel or something inside the bushing and hammering it in.....bad idea?

Too much force imo. Instead you should take a file and file the bushing all around...take off a bit of plastic around the entire ball cuz only a lil bit is needed to make it fit into the hole. That's what i had to do with my B&M shifter cuz the white bushing was way too damn tight... it wasn't gonna go in no matter how much force i applied (i tried with a mallet).
