im not great either but i havent touched a board in a while and it only takes a few flicks to get rockin again. skating helps that way when your learning a new trick or playing skate. But not getting footy.

The aim was not to create a masterpiece....The goal is to get better with each video you make, whether it's filming technique, skating, editing...Why be so negative? I think it's a pretty clever video with decent skating.

I am by no means trying to get sponsored with this or any other video I make or participate in, it's fun.

I am just beginning to skate faster regularly, for some reason I skated for years and stayed at a relatively beginner level, while maintaining a large catalog of flip tricks. I finally understand how to really skate.

I always wanted to learn how to skateboard cause of my brothers but they both broke bones and i never really got into it so i just ride around no tricks. Then i found snowboarding.. never went back to skateboard but a long board is pretty damn fun. Snowboarding>longboard>skateboard. Post some videos up of you skateboarding.

its a pretty good basic skate video

camera man needs to catch you landing the tricks not shooting you from behind and wait til' you complete the trick

agreed on whats been said before skate a little faster it'll definately help your technique and landing

thats pretty good for 2 years though keep skating and refine your style

i've been skating for almost 8 years i rolled my ankle about a year ago and it hasn't been the same but i still love to skate just no more loading docks or big set stairs for me anymore :hs:

i started skateboarding in the early - mid 90's, then i gave it up when i hit high school. i picked it back up in college and have been skating off and on ever since.
i'm 29 now and i don't have much time to skate anymore because of work. surprisingly, i get a ton of encouragement from my wife to keep skating (God i love her!) and she even shelled out for a DLSR camera to get some pics of me skating. i think the camera is more for when we have a baby but for the mean time she takes pics of me just messin around on my skate.

set-up:
Chocolate Kenny Anderson deck 7.75
fury SS trucks
shop bearings
darkstar wheels

my favorite trick other than my fakie ollie/switch smith/switch180 out is my fakie frontside bigspin. I cant do it off of anything, but its fun on flatground...

also, I cannot skate rails, but I LOVE funboxes with square rails on the sides.

another weird thing about me....i can only manual switch, i cruise/push off switch (goofy) but i ollie regular. I'm all messed up.

oh and i do switch boneless tail stalls on small quarter pipes. I'm weird.

I had been skating since I was 10.

Stopped at 18 when I noticed how fucked my ankles were when I was at work trying to lift things.

Set up:
Flip 7.5 deck
Independent Stage 9 trucks(light)
Swiss ceramic bearings
52mm Spitfires
Black Magic grip tape
Independent allen bolts

I would start skating again, but with car builds, girlfriend, and work, I don't really have the time.

after I got into cars, I kind of fell off (basically right after I left highschool).

I'm always thinking about getting back into it... if anyones down to hit up some ledges, I'm down. But damn, its been a long time...

Little kids are nuts these days. It boggles my mind to see some of these kids skate.

I was never good at skating, then I dislocated my knee and that was it for me.

I just stick to filming it now haha.

Oh, and on that video that the first dude posted...Whoever is filming it needs to be closer. You can't have a fisheye and stay 10 feet back. 1. it makes the footage look SLOOOOOOW and 2. it makes it very hard to see whats going on because everything is too distorted at that distance. Fisheyes are made to be able to shoot in tight spaces, I.E. close to the subject.

Fuck Skating

I broke my elbow, then I broke my knee, then a few sprains.

Then one day I got hit by a little honda civic going like 40. Snapped my arm in half and got a fat concussion.

Gave up on skating for about 3 years.

The next time I get on a board like a year ago I was filming while rolling, I set the camera down for a water break and was just fucking around on the board. Fell and got a hairline fracture in the funny bone deal on my elbow.

Tall people shouldn't skate.

I've been skating or in the skate scene for 10 years....I rmeeber when a dope ass line in a video consited of a flat ground backside 180, to switch 5_0 a 9 stair....

I remeber skating when it wasn't a trend, and before tony hawks came out and ruined our scene.....well not really ruined....just made us old schoolers look bad cuz the kids skating nowadays, you woulda never of seen what they're were doing back then....

All time favorite shoes.....emerica reynolds 1 and 3, and koston 1's by Es.....I remeber when nike didn't make skate shoes and its all about ANDREW REYNOLDS!!!! And emerica and baker teams good, but arcade boards was the shit!

Shmex
09-23-2008, 12:18 AM
Light trucks would hav to be either tensor trucks, or ventures, grindkings as well. I've skated a lot of different trucks best were the original tensors, and ventures. Royals were okay, hurricane trucks are heavy as shit, and since I never had much tools I never messed around wtih GK trucks....

That's true aobut flipping in and out of tricks. Shit I was never good at manuals. I have an 11 second clip of me skating the west la courthouse on myspace....awww my fav places to skate...VENICE GRAFFITI PITS, UCLA, COURTHOUSE. All legendary places for us westside skater. And beverely high....metro banks...I was pissed when they tore it down. Damn ilovbed that spot....

Oh and SAD yeah man last time I saw him sakting around was at some lil bank in inglewood....we used to skate with all the hotrod skateshop guys, and daniel haney, steve hernandez, and I've seen way to many pros just skating...

I remeber when me and a bunch of us west la skater were at hmailton highschool, and they were shooting a part for thr 411 video magazine....couple pros there marc johnson and such. Dude 4 swaud cars blocked the entrance off, and all of us scatter and ended up all runnign to the same fence. About 30 of us a 20 foot long fence and one hole. It was comedy seeing that on 411....

Thanks a lot. I'm going to pick a set of these up.

Any suggestions for lighter trucks?
I've always skated Indy's since day 1. The stage 9's last a long time and are pretty light. I always cared more about durability.

I'm not sure what the lightest trucks are right now (I'm sure there are plenty). But I'm sure the guys at your local skate shop can give you more tips on that.

Yeah. I have Venture's right now. I heard there are some light weight versions.

Bah.

I have internet. Time to start searching around again.

I miss skating. I used to be so good. Perfect nollie heel-hardflips all day long. Super tech shit, being that Rodney Mullen, Daewon Song, and Eric Koston were my idols.

I usually ran Flip, Scum, or Renaissance decks, Spitfire wheels, Black Panther bearings, and either GK or Destructo trucks.

Shoes... DVS Revival or eS Kostons (the OG K1 Kostons... fuck the ones that look like running shoes. lol)

Parks Junior High in Fullerton was my primary stomping ground - any other the LA/OC skaters, or any fan of the Blind videos should know that spot. Perfect ledges, tons of HUGE stair sets, rails... Fucking heaven.

Stupid fubar'd knees and ankles... :naw:

Yeah... I tore my acl once skating.

Just recently tore it again. So I'm wearing a brace while I skate. Until I get the surgery again.

gind king trucks are awesome for the simple fact that they kingpins are indestructable, and if i remember correctly, theyre guarunteed not to break.

I wanted to skate last night, but I had to stay late at work to do some shit the beetle.

Dude I forgot about destructos wich is stupid cuz they're my fav truck, yet I forgot to mention them. Lightwieght plus antislip axel protection and is the only truck that has a kingpin shorter than most. Its so you don't grind the shit outta the kingpin....

I used to skate in highschool. I stopped for about three years then tried skating a few weeks ago. I was never very good to start with but man I suck now.

Heelflips seem impossible to me now.

Seriously. I TRIED to break em. Couldn't. I'd grind them all the way to the axle, then smash the fuck out of them with a hammer in hopes of breaking them so I could get a new set for free... NEVER worked.

OH! Add Fury to the list of awesome trucks.
