I recently installed a KAAZ 2 way, and the instructions say i have to do figure 8's for the 30 mins...WTF Im really just worried that a cop is going to pull into the parking lot where im doing this and give me a ticket or something. Im thinking if i call the police dept and ask them what would happen or arrange something do you guys think they will help. My car is parked on a military installation and i know if i did this on base than i would really be Screwed. And i dont want to drive far especially without it broken in.

Or find a gated parking lot and hope the proprietor is really nice.

I don't see why you would get in trouble as long as your not doing donuts. The break-in says to drive in a Figure 8 shape without causing locking, so you want to do it slow.

I would suggest finding an empty parking lot and just don't drive too fast to make any disturbance, or if your really worried do as suggested and ask for permission.

if anything, a cop will just come up to you and ask what the hell you're doing. explain to him that its necessary or you ruin a 900 dollar rear end, and he'll prob understand.

just be civil to them, and they'll be civil to you.

Just bring the instructions with you so you can show them to the officer in case you do get pulled over, I'm sure you won't get a ticket. Worst case scenario he might tell you to go do it somewhere else.

its not like youre drifting a figure 8. nice and easy does it. people tend to just look at you funny. its not reckless driving or anything. you have nothing to worry about. and its usually 15-20 minutes.
edit: or whatever your instructions say.

Well i called a friend than he gave me a number to a cop in that area, i told him what i was doing and why he got all excited and wants to see my car. Oh yeah being in the military really helps.

Yeah i was with a friend once while he was breaking in his diff at a department store parking lot around 2 in the morning and a cop saw us from the street and came by to ask us what we were doing. We explained everything, luckily he was a young cop and said it was fine just don't start doing donuts and burn outs and such. So i wouldn't worry about it to much as long as your just doing slow large turns in an open area.

worst case you leave and go home

really the figure 8 thing isnt necessary
you can do the same break in style driving on streets
just drive a week or so before you really beat on it
the figure 8 is just to get the diff 100% broken in so you can romp on it the next day

lol reminds me of when I broke in my diff this summer...broad daylight around 4pm...rush hour, everyone was giving me looks...I wasnt abou tto stop and risk damaging my 700$ investment. so I did it for 30 mins striaght no breaks, I dont give a fuck what people think. even a few cops passed me....they didnt do shit....how is going 10mph in figure 8's dangerous?. they aint gonna do anything

I didnt break in my diff doing figure 8's. just regular driving, get to an from work. around town etc. it works fine. but also im one of those that dont break in motors or clutchs too. soo yah do what you want.
