View Full Version : J30 rear subframe = S14?
Is a J30 subframe identical to the S14 rear subframe?
There are a bunch of J30s at a local yard, and as much as it sounds like not fun dropping one myself at a yard just to buy it, it may have to happen since S14 subframes don't seem very common.

I KNOW the suspension arms are different, but I am not sure on the subframe itself.

The arms do all swap over, and the camber arm is way beefier than the S14 one. As far as the actual subframe I've never compared, no clue why, I had a stack of each at one point before throwing them all out. I'd drop it just to get all the other parts anyway, diff, axles, brakes, hubs, etc.
Local yards charge enough where you can't make any money on most components - it's stupid.
I did a few google searches and it seems that some S30 guys seem to think it's the same, but I did find one post that mentioned they thought the J30 subframe was wider than the S14 frame. That wasn't the general consensus, so no telling if it had any merit.

Dang. I buy one here complete with diff, brakes, and ebrake cables for $200 and can triple that easily off parts. That sucks. The pull-it yards are even better, $80 for everything, but the local kids found out long ago and now rape them before anyone else can get a piece. Or they just take one side leaving it useless.
Yea, the local places around here all do crap like $20 for a little switch, or $40 for a grimey PS pump you had to pull yourself. They essentially price stuff just below parts store Chinese junk prices.
Well, I might take the jump and give it a try since S14 subframes seem really rare around here.
