Will the KA24 trans bolt up to my S13 redtop? I have spent the morning searching and I have found no definitive answer. a couple of my friends at local shops say they will fit and work I just want confirmation before forking out a lot of money for a trans.

You're a gotdamn liar.
Swap the bellhousing, the rear half is the same. We've been saying this for nearly 20 years. If you didn't find that information you don't deserve a computer.

exact opposite for me, broken 3 ka trans in one summer and have yet to break an sr trans. out put shafts are different, as is the whole tail section of the trannys for that matter

The Final Drive on the Sr trans is slightly different from the KA I think but other than that they are the same mechanically except for the bellhousing which is engine specific. IIRC the RB20, and only RB20, trans is also the same as a KA/SR trans except for the bellhousing.

And the CA18, and VG30E from the Z31.
And it's the 5th gear ratio that differs, .759 vs. .838.

Do Not swap an RB20 rear half to an sr or ka!!!
RB20 trans will swap bell housings and bolt up but the rear portion is 2" shorter and your drive shaft will not reach. Trust me, it sucks to find out once you already put it in the car.

They are not the same mechanically. For instance the splines on the output shaft are longer in an sr tranny than a ka tranny. On the ka tranny after the splines end on the output shaft there is this indent or cut all the way around the shaft, this is where I have broken a few. Also the ka tranny has this weird reverse thing that the sr doesn't. it's pretty much a catch that won't let you go from 5th to reverse, not that you would but it's there in a ka.

Don't flame me because the search tool is not my friend, I searched for what I wanted and did not find it so I asked. My question now is where can I get the bell housing? since obvionsly I dont have one.
