Its been one week since I've driven my car and before that it was fine. However this morning I turned it on with no issue, and no odd sounds. When I pulled out my drive way I scraped my exhaust.

So as I started moving, at around 20mph, the car starts making this loud thumping type of sound and a bunch of rattle noises. As I get faster, the noise level increases. Also I noticed when I was driving on the freeway that when I let go of the throttle the same noise would increase.

I also noticed that my brake pedal didn't feel as stiff as if I hadn't bled my brakes or something. It was a much softer feeling.
Only thing I've done differently in a week was swap out wheels, but I put the original ones back.

I looked under and at my brakes but could see anything out of the unordinary.

hmm maybe a hole in your exhaust....

I looked under my car really quick this morning, and there doesn't seem to be a hole. When I'm at a complete stop, the car sounds fine, sounds like it should.

You can check for exhaust leaks by plugging up the tailpipe and see if the engine stalls or if exhaust pressure pushes the restriction out. If not, then the exhaust is leaking somewhere.

What I don't understand though is why would my brake pedal feel so soft? I looked at the brake fluid today and there's still plenty. I also felt around my brakes, no fluid leaks as far as I could tell.

Air trapped in the lines, or your master cylinder is toast.

You said you swapped wheels, are you running spacers?

Did you remove the spacers?

Sounds a loose wheel.

check that all lugs are tightend properly

I put my stock wheels back on. But I was also thinking loose lugs but I only swapped out one side, and it wasn't the side that the noise was coming from. I'll lift the car today as soon as I get home and check it out thoroughly.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Well when I bled the brakes after swapping brakes, I used a compressor brake bleeding system that just sucks the air out of the brakes with a compressor. How could I check if its my BMC though? It is the original though from 1989...lol

I fail....I had forgotten that I loosed up one tire and didn't tighten it back up. I tightened it down and now its back to normal.

Possibly tighten the bolts on the caliper. I dunno why hitting the car once would cause it, but maybe they were backing out prior to this, and the caliper has a slight amount of play? Letting off the pedal may cause it to vibrate and what not. Worth trying.
