1996 KA24DET. I have not put boost on it yet. Im pretty sure it has a stuck valve in #1 and i can hear it tapping pretty well (not timing chain, its all new). The engine sat for a few months and i guess that it why its stuck. Before you ask i already checked plugs, wires, injectors. I took off the valve cover and tapped the top of all four valves and its still not firing and is still stuck. Is their an easy way to free the valve without taking the head off? I poured some mineral spirits on top of the four valves to try to work down in their (i know im changing the oil after this lol). Any suggestions?

Have you done compression and leak-down tests? At the very least you should put air pressure into #1 (on compression TDC) and listen for it at the intake and the exhaust.

The valve might be bent, especially if it was stuck down when you cranked it.

If you didn't take the camshaft, the bucket and the stem seal off, you probably didn't actually get any solvent down into the valve guides.

take the valve cover off and crank the motor by hand and watch the valves
