Im going to take another stab at this. I need a bit of help(and not telling me to refere to a FSM) with my car not reving.

To start this off I will give a little bit of info on my car. I have a 93 coupe with a 96' s13 black top with an e6 ecu. The motor was an auto for about 5 months. It ran fine and had no issues with the motor or trans. It would rev all the way to 7k with out any probs what so ever.

About a month ago I did my five speed swap myself, and probably hit every speed bump possible. Needless to say I got it up and running. The car runs fine but has a few issues.

1. It will not rev past 3.6k.
2. My idle is a bit rough. It will go up to 1.8k on start up and settle at about 1.1-1.3k when im driving.
3. I still have overheating issues(not bad, but still anoying) even after my breather tank and PBM radiator.

My battery is in my trunk and I have a 100amp fuse going to it. Before I got my car running(durring my five speed swap) I blew the fuse. I happen when my car lurched forward after trying to start it in gear. Everything seemed ok after it happened.

Could that have fried my maf ?
Does anyone have a clue ?

Heavythrottle said to check my grounds to my coil packs, and that was pretty much it.

my friends car was having some really bad problems after relocating his battery to the trunk. i repositioned the ground and made a nice bare metal spot for it....no more problems. make sure your battery is grounded VERY well

+1, check grounds.

When I fried my MAF I couldn't rev past 2500.

^ I could pretend to have a rev limiter at stop lights to impress the Honda boys. :hsdance:

try a different maf, Check you ground to your coil packs, Make sure your battery ground Is grounded properly.. Sounds like maf to me! As far as your over heating. Change out the thermostat(I like the nismo thermo) and run 50/50 water/coolant

try running with no thermostat and see if that helps, also instead of 50/50 try 20/80 or something like that with distilled water only not tap

oh and water wetter could help some too

Im running a brand new nismo unit. My over heating is due to air in my cooling system(I think). Im also using water weter and 50/50.

How can you check to see if my maf is fried ? Will my car drive if the maf is not hooked up ?

there is only one ground going to ur coils and is behind the head , but if ur motor is not getting good ground then ur coils neither. i hate battery relocations , thats why i got me a braille battery . if i was u i run a 4G ground cable straight from the battery to ur block . do a test. through a cable outside of car from battery to block or head for ground just to make sure if is ground that u need

are you running a .9 rad cap or higher? and is it relatively new and what not?

just trying to throw out ideas beyond air in the system which should be a pretty easy fix especially with a breather

Im using a 1.3 bar on my breather, 0.9 on my overflow, and the cap my breather kit came with on my rad.

Ok so my reving issues are a bit more complexing now. I am starting to believe it is my ecu that is causing my problem now.

I tried to check all the connections today. Everything checked out ok. So then I started to work on my cooling system. After I got done bleeding the cooling system I reved the motor a bit to see if there were any leaks. I noticed that the needle did not stop at 3.6k. So I took it for a drive to see if my problem went away.

First gear will pretty much go all the way to 7k
Second will go to about 5.5k
Third will go to 4.5k ish
Fourth will go to 3.8-4.1k
Fifth will go to 3.7k

I have no clue what the hell is going on.

Had the same problem. It was my fuel pump that went out.

Well his doesnt sound like a fuel pump problem his cars starts. It sounds like once your Engine gets warm, the ECU goes in safe mode. I think i read the other day someone having problems and someone else suggested replacing the water temp sensor. And for the auto to manual swap to did you loop the auto sensor. Maybe find someone in your area and try there ECU.

This happened to one of my many nissans...turns out I had to replace my ecu, and airflow meter.

Coolant temp sensor is the exact name.

What do you mean loop the auto sensor ?

The only wires I know you have to loop are a tan and black wire in order to start the car. Were there more that had to be looped ?
