I gave it a try yesterday for lunch and man....this is one hearty sandwich for a good price. It's so greasy and screams "I want a heart attack" but its damn good haha The one I had was the chicken bacon ranch, the next one I will try is the Philly cheese steak. It's different from the toasted subs you get at Quizno's and reminds me of some mama-n-pa restaurants.

Has anyone tried these?

I guess this is their response to pizza hut's pasta dishes. I bet it costs like 8.99

it's $4.99 for just the sandwich, $6.99 for a combo. i just ate one. not that great really. the flavor was ok, but for something that might kill me (it's a heart attack on a bun) i'd rather have something that tastes great.

Next thing you know they're going to sell burgers and shit. Then Mexican food. Then Chinese food. What are they going to come up with next?

dominos had pasta and sandwiches back in the 80's. they got rid of them nationwide when they started doing the infamous "30 minutes or it's free".

i used to drive for dominos, and i've got to say, the two best things to ever come from there are the angus steak pizza and the philly cheesesteak pizza.

It's good and all, but not enough portion wise.

I heard in Philly, PA, at GINO'S, it's around $4.99 for a GENUINE, FOR REAL philly cheesesteak, that's about a foot long, with meat and other stuff practically falling off because they stuff it so much.

I want to visit my parents up there and then go to GINO's...

Yea, but that's not an option for me.

Portion wise, I'm happy with it. I actually don't want a foot long samich. The portion was perfect for me.

Gino's does sound good. I've seen them featured on all kinds of shows on FoodTv.

Yeah, them, and the joint right across the street from them, which I can never remember for the life of me.

Both places are world famous, and just as good from what a lot of people say, so... I guess 1 day I'll be chilling at GINO'S, and the next day I'll be across the street :D

I don't like the idea of cheese sauce like they use. I like actual cheese personally.

SoSideways
11-07-2008, 12:14 PM
Do they use cheese sauce?

I don't remember that...

I know when I used to work at this restaurant that was famous for their philly cheesesteaks since it was some what of a fast food place (you order, we make the shit right then and there, but like the meat were frozen, and we throw the meat on the grill right away, or like, throw the burger or chicken patties into this machine that heats/cooks them as it goes through this conveyor belt thing), we'd just put the provolone cheese on the bun, and the heat from the meat/onions/green peppers would melt the cheese all over.

Was good....

Yea they do. That is supposedly the real way to make a Philly.

If they're as good as everyone swears up and down as, then damnit, it's well worth $7.50.

And $7.50 should be a foot long. That one looks like a 6".

@ Gino's you can get regular cheese, besides just wiz

@ Pat's its only wiz

Cheese is first in the order, fried onions are next so its...

Jalapenos, typically not, especially if you go during a busy time they will simply kick you to the back of the line lol. Its not Burger King, You get it your way within reason =p. Its definetly something everybody should experience, the atmosphere is great.

And for the record, Pats > Ginos :yum:

I seriously wonder why there aren't any quality cheesesteaks in SoCal! There's a pretty good place in Fontana. Very small place, but bomb as hell. It's on Valley blvd, between Cedar and Sierra called Michaels Donuts. It's right next to SavAMinute liquor. Everything is cut and cooked in front of you. And don't let the location and name fool you, the sammiches are BOMB!!!!

I would too, if I had a flat grill, and the stuff to do it with.

I made the best Philly cheese steaks, and made it the fastest, back when I worked at that one restaurant :D

Cast iron skillet. I was planning on making Philly's next week too. I'm going to do it it just like Geno's and have the butcher thinly slice a ribeye for me.

If you can find real Greek Gyro, then yeah, they're good.

But everywhere I look, there's only the 63% processed lamb/beef meat.

Yes, 63%. The rest of the 37% is unaccounted for...

Said so on the box.

Same place that I worked at where I cooked the Philly cheese steaks, right next to it, was the gyro machine. Yes, we served that too...

Except dumb rednecks down here call them the "GI-row" lol

Pizza hut does and has been making sandwiches for years, and they also have been serving spaghetti for years.

I lived in Philly for 7.5 years and always preferred the mom and pop cheese steak places, or the ones in the "hood" over Pats/Gino's/Jims etc.

I think part of the thing that makes Pats / Geno's so exciting is the atmosphere. Especially after a game at the Linc or CPB, you could go there just to hang out not just eat. You dont find too many places like that in south philly
