i searched twice!

I cant decide on what to get for tuning my set up and im scared of choosing the wrong system.

pro and cons?

im leaning on getting FC

is the AEM system worth it?

looking something easy to work with and send it out to the shop to get tuned.

set up is...
sr20 new pistons, rods, bearings, valves, springs, 740cc, gt2871r,and hks 264/264

want 350hp

:l101: need help plz

Had the same dilema. I chose the PFC D-Jetro (map sensor) and the pro software for easier/faster tuning. AEM is great too, but there are a few vendors here that will give you a price on a PFC that will cost way less than the AEM.

For your setup PFC D-Jetro. Done.

I'd say the Apexi D-Jetro too. I've seen alot of people running it. If he goes that route wont the place that he goes to to get it tuned will have to be actually a certified Apexi Tuner/Installer? I've heard that some companies require a Tuner to be certified with certian tuning software.(correct me if i'm wrong)That's something else to consider also is how easy will it be to get it tuned.

Apexi's are really in-depth and robust. PFC's are like a "my first EMS." I'd go w/ a MAF version if you're not looking for over 500whp. Tuning is a breeze w/ a MAF.

Use the system that your tuner has the most experience. All the features, simplicity, etc mean nothing if the person setting it all up doesn't know what he's doing.

I'm partial to the AEM myself. I am a factory certified tuner though, so that has a little to do with it. I've used them with Vipers, RB's, SR's, S2000's, and a host of others and they are simply the best for the money.

PowerFC isn't bad, well... unless you don't have powerExcel or FCedit, then it is bad!

Honestly, with a simple cut-and-dry GT2871 setup I would use an enthalpy tuned ECU if I were you. That way you still have the option of pulling codes when troubleshooting. It will come out cheaper than buying even a used PFC and paying to have it tuned.

I had the PFC .now i have the AEM EMS. AEM all the way. its way more complex(from what i see the tuner playing with it . i dont tune) . comparing the tuning process with PFC and EMS ,EMS win. PFC its not even on that level where AEM is period.
i just did a dual pump setup cause my walbro is almost max out. now i can run racing fuel more boost the AEM let u run a map for lower boost when u run pump gas , the EMS read when u go over the lower boost setting (like my lower boost is 21-22) right there the AEM turn the secondary fuel pump allowing u to run more boost. or racing fuel. u can run two maps but u dont have to change maps manually . AEM do it for u just by reading boost
i just got up . sorry for my fucked up explanation, just get the AEM bro

I'd say this is just as important, as anything. This is why I went w/a haltech instead of the PFC.

yeah man i agree with you on that!!all my research points to aem for the win but that doesnt mean that the pfc is a bad product at all.but now im gonna throw this in the mix and probably get boo'd by you all.with what your doing it sound like a rom tune from scott or jwt would suit you just fine.just my 2 cents...

My research was initially pointing me to the PFC as well, but I ended up going w/the one that would allow me to make my tuner's job as easy, for lack of a better term, as possible.

I am runnign the same setup, without the cams and easily hit 320 whp at 17psi.

Someone else on here went from this setup and 320 and just added cams and picked up ~60 whp.

350 should not be a problem at all for you.....I am also running a PFC D-Jetro with this setup and have found it to work well and be a good deal for the money

i was going for the flashed ecu but i thought about it... but if i ever wanted to change/add i don't want to pay $350-$500 to get a reflash and trouble shoot.

if i get one of these engine managements i think it would be better in the long run.

You will pay $500-1000 for a good base tune and $150-300 for a retune with a good PFC or AEM tuner, apart from the cost of the unit itself, which will cost $650(used PFC) to $1800 (new AEM w/uego).

A reflash is $600, said and done and a retune is $150 if memory serves me correct. You won't need a reflash unless you change the turbo, injectors, maf, or cams. That's the beauty of a MAF based ECU tune. Enthalpy and JWT ftw on a basic setup like yours, trust me... I've built dozens of SR20det swaps and turbo upgrades for customers, as well as tuned dozens more.

With that much power, and the fact that you mad add stuff on, there is no reason to go with a ROM tune.

Get a standalone and just call it a day, you will thank yourself at the end of the day.

+1 find a really good tuner and find out what he's really good at tuning with. I don't recommend a mail order rom tune but a real time dyno tuned rom is a good alternative. Scott doesn't exactly have the best customer service but he is a really good tuner if you could have him tune your car in person. Again, only if you know a good tuner. The tuner is key.

Power FC.

I think AEM is highly overated.

If you can afford AEM go for the Haltech, it was designed work with the Nissan Hal Effect sensors right out of the box, no modification of CAS needed...

No one in Australia or Japan uses AEM, Europeans use Haltech or Motec.

I have tuned lots of cars with either, and I like the L-Jetro or unit or the Haltech for Map based units the best for sr20det etc...

Steve is the tuner in my local area, I'm eventually going to get a gt3076r and a fully built set up. In the end it will amount to what he recommends, McRussellPants is running basically what I want to run and he's using a power fc so who knows *shrugs*

I ran an aem ems on my ls integra back in 2003, and it was ok, but I wasn't really fond of it. I then went rom tune for almost the exact setup the op has except I was running a GT28R. Now I'm running a Halteh E8, and its been fun, car started on the first try with it. Also, the E8 is about the same price as the ems. Honestly, any option is only as good as the tuner setting it up, so just use whatever your tuner is best with.

i would definatly go woth the PFC Jetro...only because of simplicity.

I use an EMS, i really love it. I do a small amount of tuning, but my car is pretty much a road race rat so I wanted the EMS for the datalogging and the advanced maping, and map switching.

biggest thing is to do what your shop/tuner recommends. they know something best, and proper setup and continual support is more important then anything else.

Do u daily drive the car?

If you do, you will like the power FC and the price.

AEM isnt a bad unit, just pricey.
