Signed up for the Marine Corps march 18th. Took about 6months to train with my local Marines and poolees.
Finally got a ship date. Sep 8th, thats this Monday.
Signed up Combat Support, hoping to get a Tanker or Artillery MOS.
Any tankers or Artillery men on here? Ill accept the Army as well :keke:
Im trying to decide what to do with my car. I know my first year in the Corps I wont have much time for it.
Would it be to much trouble to bring it with me and let it sit in the barracks, and pick up another DD?
Should i just sell it, and save myself some trouble? Pick up another when i have time?
Anyways, Ill be gone for 3months. About 10 days of leave after that and then more training. Wish me luck!

If you can't leave the car with family, or afford to store it, then I'd say sell it. Depending on where you get stationed, or how soon you deploy, it'll just end up sitting somewhere anyway. No sense if stressing yourself over some wanna-be drift king stealing your shit when you got bigger priorities on your mind.
Have fun, Boot Camp is a blast. :rawk:
I can leave my car at my parents house for as long as need. My plans are too keep it.
Thanks for the support guys!

Then that's your best plan. Don't worry about trying to get it until you reach your Duty Station either. Having a car while your in school after MCT is nice, but it can turn bad when all of sudden you get orders to the other side of the Country/World and now your car is no where close to your family for safe keeping.
Oh, and a tip:
If your Drill Instructor asks you for the proper procedures to enter a "foxhole", just remember...
Step 1. Lift the tail
Haha I've heard a couple of those.
My favorite is the one about mountain climbers.
"Recruit! Why did you stop!?"
"Ive reached the top of the mountain sir!"

Confidence Course, Obstacle Course, Rapelling, Pugil Sticks, Rifle Range, MCMAP, Swim Qual, Drill, Pits, Quarter Decks, PT, CFT, Field Days... You have so much fun lined up for the next 3 months! Seriously.
Just remember to push yourself. If you don't get to the point of puking at least 3 or 4 times, you're not pushing hard enough. There is nothing lined up in Boot Camp that you CAN'T do, just many things you'd rather not have to do.

Boot camp is easy.
Put a monkey who understands English in some cammies, and you've got a new Marine.
Don't volunteer for anything, listen and do exactly what you're told as fast as humanly possible, and you'll fly under the radar like crazy.

Good luck!
I realize that BCT in the Army and USMC are two different beasts but when I went through I discovered the ONE worthwhile detail to volunteer for: weapons guard.
The only reason I say that is because as weapons guard you either get to eat before everyone else or after them. Either way it means you get to take a little longer to eat and don't have some Drill Sergeant (or in your case Drill Instructor) breathing down your neck while you eat.
But that was my experience in Army BCT in 2001. Things may or may not be different.
Again, good luck.
