gotta love the sound of that bish
should be 400hp+ 400tq and get 28-40 miles per gallon
6.0 240sx stroker kit ftmfw!
Hammilton who shot the vid hadn't heard it start yet so he didn't know how beastly it was gonna sound. hence his little girly whimper at the end hahahahha

Very nice! Every time I think about something else like a VQ35 swap or KA-T, I see something like this and say to myself; "Ha how could I possibly consider anything else?" LS1 FTW!
Oh ya what did you do for mounting and all that jazz? Personally I'm considering Sikky mounts and oilpan but Hinson wiring harness and cooling system.

28-40 mpg?
what diff are you using?LSx engines are known for good highway mileage in f-bodies and vettes, even with short rear end gearing. Drop a couple/few hundred pounds off (even once you add the extra weight from the heavier T56 trans) and that means even better gas mileage if you don't stomp on throttle all the time.
nismo tuned s14
09-05-2008, 12:51 PM
You can do like 90 mph and turn less than 2k rpms in 6th gear lol
Z U L8R
09-05-2008, 02:39 PM
yeah, 80mph in a vette is 1500rpm. it's almost idling.
for the s13's i hear the sikky mounts are better but since this was s14 we went with the hinson mounts and headers. no problems with those. i know some people dog on their kit or what not. i don't know what they got, but what we got worked great.
i've been doing nissan swap wiring for the last 9 years, i've done vg's in rx7's , sr's in hardbody pickup trucks, my rb in my s30 (280z) in my sig, my KA in my 510, and all the sr and rb motors in just about every nissan chassis, i've done a couple harnesses for people on here as well. wiring and diagnostics are my strong points, so I did the wiring for this LS2
obd2 works, ac'll work once the lines are fabbed up. basically we disable the vats (vehicle anti-theft sys) with our Tech 2 (gm scan tool) but i can hook up a generic obd2 scanner to it and read any codes, monitor everything the ecu sees, i can datastream or watch crank trigger / injector pulse on the oscilloscope.
it's pretty bad ass.
this was my first LSX wiring job too so if you don't wanna buy a speartech or other harness send a pm and i can wire yours up now that i've gotten it under my belt
all in all the vid doesn't do it justice. that thing sounds MEEEEAAAANN! in person. you can feel it lobing in your chest and the throttle response is sick like RAWWRR!! LOL
we just start it up now and giggle at how wrong it is for a 240sx to sound like that LOL
glad y'all like it, and we appreciate your feedback

sweet setup.. I am in the process of building an LSx motor for my s14. Right now im lookin at an LQ4 bottom end with l92 heads. Still trying to decide on a specific grind for my cam but im hoping to be roughly 460-480rwhp all motor and then add a 200+ shot on top just for kicks. Should be a nasty little ride. I have heard of lots of people trying to make the obd2 port work and not be able to. Gratz on figuring it out. Did you use the GTO harness?

thx guys , ya the guy was obsessed with his z31. then he wrecked it and he bought an 87 FC rx7 shell from me for cheap, got the v8 mount kit, dropped in the vg30e, and i wired it up for him lol. he'll turbo it eventually....but he's just happy to have some torque now heh
i was bored so i made more vids
my sole intent for the day was to get the LS2 s14 running......which happened at about 9am this morning....so the rest of the day i took it easy and had some fun with the camera. too bad it can only record a minute at a time
had a surprise visit from Jeremy Blackwell @ Speed for Sale
YouTube - Lethal Injection Shop Walkthrough Part1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZNv4Jitm8E) part 1
that's Garry Grimes (Machine Shop) tellin stories in the background. R35 GTR...then to the LS2 S14, then a quick walk by derek's rb25'd 180sx drift car, then over to the 1 off GTK550 Turbo Scion TC, a quick glance at drew's t78 400hp FD rx7, then over to drew's 3 rotor 20b /w gt42r motor with the Eunos Cosmo (3 rotor) front clip in the back ground
YouTube - Lethal Injection Shop Walkthrough Part2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbOuEwX_U44) part 2
picked up where i left off.....a comparison between my pack of cigerettes and a gt42r lol.....turbo wins...another eye candy shot of drew's FD, then Laura's Galant VR4, a 4AGE Hachi, R32 GTR, custom widebody suburu (white car), 800hp 3.2 stroker mk4 supra, magbee's 2.4L sr20 stroker with the sexy SSR rims, Dom's S15 6 speed sr with the full race gt30 kit. i was trying to show the inside of the exhaust manifold of how nice the collector was.
YouTube - Lethal Injection Shop Walkthrough Part3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9Mbji5C6uQ) part 3
back to the Beastly LS2 s14, another walk around "GODZIRRA" , off to the showroom for a quickie with my new and improved rb25'd 280z (got a built bottom end now :P ) , then to our s14 silvia, then our r32 gtr (we're talking about doing an 8 liter WORLD LSX...... 2,000 AWHP is the intent behind that one, and then a quick glance at the JDM 12A carbeurated turbo rotary motorset.
sorry the vids were so dark, that camera's not that great and i make a better mechanic than a videographer lol.

I like the comment "Im building one right now, what cam did you go with." I mean wtf their are about as many cams for that engine out their as their are sluts. Make one phone call and they will tell you what cam gives you what in exact figures. If i were doing this swap the last thing i would ask an experienced builder is what cam i would be asking fab questions... Kids these days......

New swap...Dont mean to thread jack but I just finished up my ls2 swap in my s14 last week as well. I was planning to post my build here on zilvia but wanted to wait until it was rolling and %100 done. And you are right the thing is loud as hell. How do you like the hinson solid mounts?? someone made a comment about the obdii hook up its simple I will post it in my build it only five wires and its str8 forward almost too easy and yes it works
..........lsx ftw!!!!!!!!!!

ya, i posted up about the obd2 plug cause i was unsure, but before anyone responded with a yay or nay i hooked up the scanner and everything communicated so i was like W00T. i posted it up on www.v8silvias.com (http://www.v8silvias.com)
the mounts are ok, but we're probably gonna fab up our own set on the next go round. another guy named charles dropped off his ls1 yesterday so we can do a full build on it, and that's going in his s13.
next door is Grimes Machine shop, they're bad ass. anyways they have the 2000hp world motor next door. basically on a stock LS head you can get about 2 fingers in the ports....on the WORLD head you can get 3 fingers easily side by side in the ports lol it's crazy
my KA-T 510'll be my import showdown/faceoff car, but my widebody 71 240z is DEFINATELY getting an LSX. and knowing me and how i love boost...........it'll be a sick mofo when i'm done with it =]
too much info......we're working on a stroker kit for the r35 right ^_^ and we should be getting an awd mustang dyno to put next to our 2wd mustang dyno so we can line up next to each other and do friday night drag racing since you can run the 1/4 mile on our dyno........
did i mention i love my job hahah
thx fellas

great build! Im also in the progress of building up my Ls2 to throw into my kouki! just slowly gathering up parts.
just out of curiosity how was the fitment of the hinson kit? did you have to super hammer the transmission tunnel?
thumbs up for the inspiration
Z U L8R
09-05-2008, 11:55 PM
it was actually less tranny tunnel massaging than an rb25 s-chassis swap needs. for the LS basically right around the beginning where the tranny tunnel meets with the fire wall, and that's it. it helps also to shave off the tabs on the tranny that stick up that nothing goes to.
as far as the hinson stuff in general, it's good stuff. my ONLY gripe with them was that it took so long to get all the stuff in our hands. other than that. the headers look and fit great. the motor fits in there with plenty of room and all that. being that we're a shop and we like to get things done in a timely manner, we will be fabbing up our own mounts for the next one, but nonetheless the hinson mounts and headers for the s14 worked really well.
with the ls2, you have to use a camaro (LS1) shifter or it'll sit too far back, which we used. but mcloud i believe makes an adjustable shifter where you can move it like an inch or two front back side to side to get it perfectly in your tranny tunnel and it's not that expensive.
all in all (and i've always been an import guy) i have to say that i really like the aluminum v8's. SOME of the typical owners may have mullets or are self righteous domestic dousche bags.....but the motor's are just plain wicked. there's nothing wrong with tried and true american muscle. the best part is, you can boost it just the same =]
@ ruthlessdet , i saw the vid of your car man, and definately good job on that. we'll be getting the gm quick connect to -6 AN lines for the fuel system before it's delivered as well. i saw your aeromotive fuel pump by the wiper motor area. i was a bit uncomfortable with having the fuel anywhere near the header so we ran a stock corvette fuel filter (it has the fuel pressure regulator and fuel return built into it), we mounted that in the back right in front of the fuel tank where the stock driveshaft "loops" is on s14's. then ran the fuel line alone the tranny tunnel above the tranny. you may be fine, but having fuel near hot header makes me nervous. just an idea. post a vid up of your first test drive. i wanna see your ear to ear grin after you're done hahaha

Hey whats up dave once again sick swap ....sorry about the thread jack once again but correct me if im wrong but were like the only two on this forum with a "2" swap and one guy in england, and I figure might as well document and put out as much info as possible becuase im sure more and more people are interested in doing a v8 swap. As far as the fuel pressure aeromotive regulator it just there for looks dude because im running the vette reg/filter in the same place your running yours. Its close to the
headers yes but ive seen people with them closer

the weight loss will definitely improve the mpg. Wait4meperformance.com has a fuel saver reprogram that they say will give you 25mpg in a GTO in 6th gear cruising at 50mph.

the motorset was 8,000 , then you got bout 2,000 in mounts, headers, cam and valve springs. so that's 10 right there. then there's exhaust, wiring, fuel system, alternator conversion to 1 wire, power steering lines to fab up as well as p/s pump modification to reduce pressure, ac lines fabbed, aluminum radiator, oem gaskets, new crank bolt, LSD, driveshaft, actual labor time and other misc. parts. we're also gonna tune it for him so dyno time is included in as well.
you don't necessarily have to spend 8,000 dollars on a 2006 LS2 motorset with 8,000 miles on it. you can get an ls1 for a lot less and use the extra 3 or 4 grand to mod it with, but i kinda like that it's more displacement, you can boost 8psi on stock ls2 which would make the car 600hp+ np etc etc.
but basically no matter what route you go. do it right. if you can't afford to do it right, then don't do it until you can. and then when it's all said and done, you will have a bad ass car, that makes good power and gets good gas mileage =]

@ redevilrps13: hell yeah man, you can make 350hp on an L28 pretty easily but yeah, after doing this swap, i'm so gungho about these things =] ......
no worries though, i haven't given up on imports :P
my little KA-T Datsun 510's undergoing surgery at the moment. i got an s13 rear subframe in it /w z32 diff. the subframe is shortened as far as wheel base as well as a mini-tub so i should be able to get some 295's or bigger in the back and use all the s13 adjustable rear suspension pieces/brake upgrades/coil overs. i'm still gonna have back seats too. got a z32 tranny going on the ka trans so it'll hold the power. the head is getting an UBER port and so are the ITB'S i got for it. i got the aeromotive eliminator fuel pump which supports 1600hp efi and 2400carb, it's bigger than the a1000 lol. my fuel lines are gonna look like heater hoses hahaha. once he's done fabbing up those, he's finishing it off with a 9 second legal cage, then i'll start on building the KA + gt35r + spray. i figure mckinney ran 9.80's with 500hp and an automatic in their 510, why can't i run 9's with a 5 speed and a 600rwhp grocery gettin sedan ^_^
can't wait till that things done. i took some pics of the progress today but they're not that good. i'll post em up once i upload em to the computer tomorrow.
thx again for the reps and compliments

What differentials do people use when they put an LSx in their 240? Stock with a modified driveshaft?
The stock diff is very strong and should be able to handle a mildy modded V8 with no problems. I put out about 400 ft-lbs at the flywheel and 315 at the wheels through a stock diff, and I see many many people putting over 500 ft-lbs to the stock diff with no problems.
The most I have seen broken on the rear end of an S-chassis is the axle. Very rarely do I see a pinion problem on high torque cars, but that's very very high torque race cars on slicks and at that point you break almost any diff.
Props to Nissan for designing a pretty strong diff.
As far as the propeller shaft goes, get your driveline alignment down and then call the Driveshaft Shop. They'll tell you how to measure and determine what ends are needed on the shaft.

Woah you're planning on putting an LS series engine in a GT-R and maintaining the AWD? I love you! If you do it please post the info on how you accomplished this as far as bellhousing adaptation, clutch/pessure plate, front half shaft clearance under/through/around the oilpan, starter location, and anything else needed to make it fit. I've been wanting to do that for years as LS engine + AWD = ultimate street machine, but it's never been done as far as I can tell and I can't find the pertinent drivetrain specs needed to know if it would fit together and what needs to be clearanced. Perhaps the biggest issue I see is the fact that GT-Rs have a pass-through in the oilpan for the front left half shaft. I assume it would require a custom oilpan or dry sump to make this work. The starter might be a pain too.
I'm dead serious in saying that if you get that to work, I would be willing to buy your custom parts to mate a Gen III/IV small block to ATTESA AWD. That would make for the ultimate S13 in my mind.
