Rather novice question...

I recently changed from an electric fan to a clutch fan on my 92 S13, and one of the bolts that hold the water pump pulley on broke while removing it. With the clutch fan attached there is not much thread available for the nut to grab. I haven't removed the water pump yet.

My question is two part: 1.) are the bolts easily replaceable or is it welded to the pulley itself? if so anyone know what size the bolts are? and 2.) is the proper way to attach the clutch fan with the stock bolts? or do most people replace them with a longer bolt.

thanks in advance for any assistance.

The bolts are the stud type bolts, they screw all the way out of the pulley. Unless somebody changed yours, it should have been a nut on a stud. Just get the rest of the nuts off, take the pulley off, and get the rest of the broken stud off with some pliers.

thank you, that is what I was hoping. how bout that second part...is it normal to reuse the stock studs or common to replace with a longer one?

thanks!

M6x1.0, you can use bolts instead of studs if you want. Either way works fine.

PERFECT! thanks so much I was hoping to get a size so I can pick 'em up prior to removing the old stud.

Reusing water pump studs: to remove, screw on one nut and then a second nut to hold it in place. turn the inner nut and the stud will come off.
Dont screw the first nut too far down or it will wedge. to screw stud into new pump, screw one nut in and then second nut. Use the outer nut to screw stud in

i forget what they are called but those ratchet wrenches probably work well for those 10mm nuts. they are skinny enough to use. like a normal open end wrench but ratchet in the opposite end.
