Google Chrome - Download a new browser (http://www.google.com/chrome?open)

downloading it now. google has yet to disappoint for me. THIS IS BETA, THOUGH, SO DON'T EXPECT IT TO BE A MIRACLE APP JUST YET.

and i can already tell you i won't be switching from firefox anytime soon, as, obviously, nobody has made an AdBlock Plus extension for Chrome.

edit: using it now. lots of page real estate, and this thing is blazing fast. it's ugly as fuck, though.

right click task bar, "keep on top of other applications" or whatever. it works fine for me... you on xp or vista?

Already had that on, I'm on Vista. Works fine without the autohide option on, but when it's on and hides it won't come back.

Using it now. I like it more than Firefox and Opera.

There is no main option to go into your bookmarks and organize them, import wisely.

the click wheel scroll option doesn't work, neither do directional scroll functions, neither do back and forward mouse buttons work (my biggest gripe)

other than that it seems cool. It highlights misspelled text, but it doesn't list correction options when you right click it just like in firefox.

Trying it now and it is noticeably fast. I will wait and see if it will flourish into a strong competitor to Firefox.

that'd do it :) i need to reformat here soon, not because anything's fucking up, but it just... FEELS like i should.. i can't really describe it, but once every year or so, it's just time.

yea, a bit faster but a bit to plane, seems like one of those extra windows that pops up when you click on a picture.

i like how simple it looks, but the problem is that it really is that simple. it needs extensions, a home button, click scrolling as mentioned in this thread, and a few other things. plus, like i said in post one, it's just ugly looking.

so everybody is definitely noticing how fast this thing is, right?

all in all, i like it. but i won't be switching until they refine it substantially. and google makes their money on advertising... not so sure we'll be seeing an adblock for it anytime soon >.<

you know what'd be a great space saver? dump the scroll bars on the top and side. who needs them.

Perhaps it should have an "auto-hide" feature...if that is possible.

WTF no Linux or Mac? They use Linux internally but don't release shit for it. All the good shit is all windows. Makes you wonder about their open source commitment.

There is a home button

Click on the wrench-options-basics, then check the "show home button on toolbar"

Tried it right now, not too much of a fan. My Firefox runs a bit faster, and scrolling is flawless compared to Chrome's choppy scrolling.

No Linux support = FAILTOWN.

But Opera on Linux is the tits!

Part of me wants to go back to Hardy Heron and ditch Ibex

I was reading this article about Chrome:

Hands-on with Chrome: Google's browser shines (mostly) (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080902-hands-on-with-chrome-googles-browser-shines-mostly.html)

I like their idea for indicating that you are in Incognito mode:

Ive had it for about a day I think. Its cool and pretty fast compared to my IE but needs a bettertoolbar. Good thing its just the beta. Going to keep messing around with it. Just found out about the incogneto mode lol

yeah i have the tweak. the only thing about the chrome on my cpu is that it dowloads realllllly slow when i get stuff of off rapidshare, but when i'm on mozilla it's all gravy. so now i'm using mozilla mainly. but i go to sites really fast on the chrome, faster than mozilla with the tweaks. the chrome needs more work, it's missing a lot of things to make it a better/competitive browser compared to others that has been in the game a long time; it has potential.

Definitely installing it on my other computers.

Too bad this shit doesn't save when you close tabs like firefox.

Or as far as I know so far.

DreamN

^ I think it has that option. because when I was using it even though I closed the browser it still remembered a lot of the sites I visited when in thumbnail view.

Mmm.

I'll look into it.

Another thing that sucks about this is that I have my start menu at the top of my screen and it's on auto hide.

Shit won't let me access my start menu with my mouse without minimizing or what not.

did you know you can drag and drop tabs like a window?

lets say you wanted to open a link in a tab, but you accidentally opened it as a new window, just click and drag to the main window and it will be integrated into it!

thats pretty neat.

also, each tab is independent, meaning that if one tab fails, and freezes, its only that tab, not the whole browser.

..i have high hopes.

Same, with my bar on autohide at the bottom. That and Fotki's java plug-in doesn't work with it means its going in the bin until full release.
