so i got this fastback. its a 92. dohc ka. prev owner said it has nismo mounts, i cant confirm that. at idle the car shakes like it has a bigblock in it. once i bring the rpms to about 1500 it stops shaking. any ideas?

sounds like you got a big cam, or a miss that pick up after so long, mine does it every once in awhile, does it do it all the time?

get a new cap and rotor, new wires and plugs, check the vacuum hoses and verify that your timing is correct. should fix your problem.

should take about an hour to do. did it on my friends s13 kae and it worked wonders. cost 50 bucks.

if that doesnt do the trick ill look into the timing.

well, you should check the timing first. why? because it's free if you already have a timing gun. also, you may have a leaky injector. but 50 bucks for a tune up is cheap and should be done anyways.
nismo mounts
Thats your problem. I havent used those mounts before, but a busted mount will cause your shit it shake madly at idle.

you think?
those mounts look brand spanking new.
you think?
those mounts look brand spanking new.
Then that just might be the nature of those mounts. Anyone else have them and can contest?

id love to find out.
also, the cars shifter is very sloppy.
i put it into first and it looks as though its in neutral?
the prev owner told me its a bushing. i havent looked into it

Nismo mounts aren't any stiffer through the chassis so there's no reason to think that's the problem. Besides, a stiff mount would cause NVH throughout the rev range, not just low speed.
Vacuum leak, incorrect timing, or a misfire is the culprit.

i agree with RDM
or might just be funny enough make sure those mounts are on tight!

ill check it out and update.
ill be doing a tune up and ill check for vacuum leaks and the timing. my old man says he has a timing light. and ill check the mounts too.
