I drove one, they are like super wide and can fit 6 passengers, with a crappy turning radius, and everybody will freak out when your driving thinking your a cop...all in all I think its awesome and I would buy one. Plus it has the mustang engine in it, but correct me if im wrong.

4.6l v8, same as the buttstang GT from like 96-04. 3.83 gears, all kinds of heavy duty shit. i'm envisioning a pretty much indestructible car for about $3500.

edit: makes 215-250hp depending on the year (i'm only looking at '98-present, for the record. second gen only), while the 'stang with the same 2v engine makes 260. the variance among years is entirely due to the intake, apparently... 35hp from a different air box, that's something.

Well my brother is a cop and he drives one every day so i have ridden in it ALOT. Personally i really like it, they beat the hell out of the cars and put a fuck ton of miles on the car but atleast here they get serviced ALL THE TIME! so they always run great and never really have a problem. I gotta friend who has a Black one with Intake/headers/exhaust/tune on it and it rolls right along. Pretty mean daily driver.

Marauder is very nice. I've considered one, but rather stick with my towny.

5 speed and 6 speed swaps aren't difficult as well and both have been done numerous times successfully.

Marauders are BAD ASS, but there's a huge markup for the rarity factor.

11 second p71, huh? that'd be fucking hilarious if my interceptor was faster than my roommate's Stang.

Yeah, when I found out about that site my jaw dropped at how ppl were modifying these things. I was just expecting wheels and sound system. It completely changed my outlook on my car and the direction I wanted to take.

If I ever get the cash and time to work on her more I'm planning on swapping my engine out for one of the newer ones, stroker kit, 5 speed swap, and boost! It just seems insane when I think about what car it's going into, 1996 Lincoln Town Car :D

Where can you pick these up for that cheap?

I wouldn't mind murdering one out. A couple of my friends in high school had them, it was hilarious when they would roll up to parties.

P71's are the shit. I mean, a soup'd up boat less than 10 years old for 3 grand? (well, often times for around that price)

However, they're driven to hell and back. You never know what your getting with a used gov't fleet vehicle.

Trust me. I work on them all the time. I've never seen a 25 year old van run so bad, and yet have the odometer say 30,000 miles. The tranny's on the p71's are a common problem point, along with the electronics, and the usual high-wear parts like wheel bearings, shocks, struts, etc, just because of the high-turnover rate. The MHP gets new cars, and sells their old cars, which are maybe 3 years old, to the local cops. then 3 years later, they buy new used ones from the highway cops, and sell their 6 year old, 50,000 mile crown vics for 2 grand. And in 50,000 miles, the only thing thats touched is the brakes and oil.

craigslist. search by dealer, you'll probably find a couple local resellers.

Fuck... YOu guys are always getting my brain working with what I could do with these different cars, and I put my current plans on hold to think about it, and by the time I decide not to go with the newer car, and keep working on my e36, I've already spent all the money I had to buy parts!!!

My friend had one. Just make sure you note the differences in the P71 to the normal Vic.

He had problems with the Tranny and the steering rack being different when replacing parts. They are not more expensive to maintain. Just make sure you note that before you buy parts.

my pops drove a 99 vic for some time. said there was a recall on the 99 vics and/or similiar years due to some wiring screw up and potential fire hazard.

p71 with cobra sc? do it..
