I know that, generally speaking, the Z32 front brake swap is/has been widely discussed and pretty well-sorted out. But there's one thing I haven't been able to find out through the search tool.

How does one measure to determine if a given set of wheels will clear the Z32 calipers? I know the depth of the spokes comes into play, and the backspacing measurement is mentioned a few times.

Sooo, how do you measure the backspacing, or whatever other critical dimensions there are? I know the stock S13 SE wheels fit over the Z32 brakes, but what about my daily-use 16x7.5 TSW Hockenheim R's?

Use a straight edge to measure the distance from the back of the mounting pad to the back of the spoke. I'm not sure how far out from the middle of the wheel the caliper sits (too lazy to go out and measure it).

The important dimensions would be:

A. distance from the wheel center to the outside edge of the caliper
B. distance from the wheel center to the 'fattest' point on the caliper (the NISSAN script)
C. distance between the wheel mounting surface and the 'fattest' point on the caliper

as per this diagram:

If anyone with 300ZX brakes can fill those dimensions in, along with the type of caliper (26mm Al, 30mm Al, 30mm Fe), it would be much appreciated!

Did anybody figure out what dimension C would have to be?
My rim has 1" (25mm) from mouting pad to the back of the spoke...I'm trying to figure out if i can use z brakes.

z32 twinturbo calipers, or the 91+ non turbo z32's will clear the stock 14 SE's ? or do i need a spacer?

also, get the measurements to either side of the piston housing, like dimension B a little to the left and right. i helped a guy set up a swap where his caliper hit the the wheel on the inside (close to the hub) but there was enough room farther out in the wheel.

just fyi, they were axis sevens (18x7 +40) and he needed a 15 mm spacer.
