well, i best friend of mine is thinking of selling his 92 hatch and buying like 94-98 integra gsr. hes got like infinity speakers all the way around and 2 12's in the back, front and rear strut bars, sparco torinos, c/f dash kit, and a few extras. he was wanting to drop a sr in it... or drop a 5sp in it, and turbo the ka. but hes wanting to buy a gsr... anybody have a teg and went to a 240.... anybody have adivce for him??? thanks.

i owned an ls/vtec integra before i got my 240sx.. you can go to my website and look at the mods, pics and stuff..
but really.. i cant tell you much.. its about personal preference...
i decided to sell my integra cuz it was leaking oil (typical ls/vtec) through the headgasket and im tired of changing my oil every 2000~2500 mil.
but since i got my 240sx coupe... i knew i made a right decision
and to me.. 240sx handles a lot better than my integra
i can see more potentials out of my240sx now than when i had my integra:)

If I were in his position, I would keep the 240sx. Provided it is running well, it is less common car. I just cant see myself driving a car that three of my neighbors have, Integras are extremely common around my neck of the woods. For the money he would put into it starting from scratch on the teggy' he could definetly get an sr20det and some goodies. Work with what youv'e got. It is cheaper.

But I certainly understand if he is just wanting something new, we all get that bug now and then.

Keep the 240 I say!!

IMO tegs are gutless...I was looking at them before I got my s14.

Personally, I'd say find a type R or just don't bother.

If that's what he wants, let him buy it.

Now, the price difference between a late S13 automatic (maybe $3k) and a late DC2 GS-R ($10-$15k) could make for one hell of an S13. But building one hell of an S13 is only worth doing if you're enthusiastic about the S13... and it sounds like he's not, or at the least wishy-washy about it.

If you want to keep him in the 240SX family, steer him towards an S14 5spd. It incorporates a lot of the things that the GS-R does better (interior/comfort, manual trans). A '95-'96 is a fairly inexpensive proposition, still leaving enough left over versus the cost of a GS-R for a turbo kit or a swap in the future.

That's what it kept coming back to for me when I was last shopping for a daily car... cost. Used Integras are EXPENSIVE. Expensive to buy, really expensive to insure. At the time my GTI offered more thrills for less money.

if i was him id keep the deuce 40, im a honda hater so i would keep the 240. rear drive handle great and is a sharp looking car.
like was said before hondas are a dime a dozen like mustangs and jettas. keep a car that no one else has, be differant.

As rare as 240SXs may be, they are the "fad" car right now, everybody wants one. There's nothing "different" or "cool" about owning a car that's on every other page of Import Tuner.

true, i gotta agree on you with that, it is a "fad" car as of right now, Import Tuner even did an article on the Gforces or watever on a 240.

as for a GS-R, its a sweet car man i love it. my brother has one. black on black with black rims. handling in a teg is great. all i can say is dont go cheap with your parts since there are hella parts out for the teg. also tell him to visit honda-tech.com or team-integra.net those are the two best honda forums ive been on and i love it. i was about to sell my 240 and buy a GSR, but i wasnt able to find any. i still want a GSR but im not a rich guy that can have two cars.

Yes the GSR is also a pretty nice platform to build off of, ofcourse they are nothing compared to the 240. Sounds like a real nice 240 tho whoever buys it will be lucky. Yea now tell your friend to go to www.honda-tech.com that is where it is at for hondas. oh yea hopefully god will save his soul for making this decision

i had a teg and a few of my boys have swapped out honda hatchbacks but, i would never ever trade my 240 for something less than the s2. i think vtec is respectable technology and honda is a respectable company, but to me the 240 is much better than a gsr.

with the money hes going to spend on a gsr he could build his s13 up nicely. i can tell you that hes going to miss his rwd car..
but hey if thats what he wants to do i guess to each his own. im glad i went from honda to nissan. getting my 240 made me more of an enthusiast about cars

I LOVE MY 240

i had an integra gs-r.. was my first car.. great car.. i loved it a lot..regretably black ice took my baby from me.. so im looking for a 240sx now..
i dont have any real recommendations for ur friend, just make sure he gets it checked by a mec (compression, leakdown test, etc..).. theres a few comon problems with integras (fyi: power windows go down quite slowly on most - easy thing to fix.. also the top of the stock rad is plastic, and can crack easy in extreme conditions.. etc..)

Well if he is looking for an Integra GS-R make sure he realizes that those cars are very HIGHLY stolen (my buddies was just stolen and recovered luckily). Soo many people out there want that motor for their cars. Personally, I love the Integras, fun cars to drive, but my car feels WAY more stable at high speeds than my buddies GS-R. Not sure if it is a common problem, but he has had problems with his VTEC (i.e. having it not working all the time or being tempermental about working), but he does have over 130K on the car now (this is on a '95, if that makes any difference at all). I will definitely have to agree with the post earlier, if he decides he wants to modify the car, RESEARCH the parts first. There are so fricking many aftermarket parts for those cars that are just utter junk. BTW, Type R's are even more highly stolen due to being such a rare car. Good luck with whatever he chooses.

240fluke makes a very good pt. my turbo gsr got jacked about a month ago and stripped down to a steeringwheel and dash (yes...thats al lthats left)...integra is fun to drive, as long as u boost it or something :) handles decent, but is limited by it's FWD...it's very light and nimble tho, but yes is unstable at high speeds. i miss my car :(...but i gonna fall in love with my 240...when the sr goes in...and some suspension.

make sure he does research the parts.. i had written up my goals for my teg, everypart and mod i was gonna do, comparable prices.. and started saving up for it.. i ask a lot of newb questions here cuz i know hondas and not much on nissans, and i make sure i know everything i can b4 i buy something..
if you bud had problems with his vtec.. did he check if he was throwing any codes? or was it he just didnt wait til normal operating temperature? cause if its not in perfect conditions, vtec will not kick in...

I disagree, seeing as how there's a FS section here, and posting in the OT section would be wrong.

and i disagree cause camp just had a thread recently complaining about threads not being in the right sections and this thread having no real 240sx content. Only camppain can tell us though :o

Fads die, if you know what you are doing, your car will not.
