dont know much on the quality of these but aspec sells this one (http://www.aspecproducts.com/images.asp?theid=7238) maybe someone else has experience on metal ones. quite a bit more expensive than two bucks so if you wanna stay stock as posted above westco has em.

Tanabe sells an aluminum one with their transmission mount kit. Pricey but it also firms up the mount.

It helps a lot, I would highly recommend putting one in if your swap doesn't have it.
Keeps the shifter tight, so there's no wiggle - when you're downshifting 5th - 3rd or 4th - 2nd or whatever it helps you nail the right gear even if you're "moving laterally".

Make sure you use vice grips to pinch the top of the slots on the bushing when you pop it onto the bottom of your shifter so it doesn't pop off. Mine fell off and was moving freely inside the little shifter case.
