5-lug swap - what's the current consensus?

I've done a LOT of searching, in preparation for swapping to 5-lug hubs on my S13. The general feeling seems to be thus:

1. OEM is best, if you can get it.
2. Circuit Sports Gen 2 and Peak Performance are pretty good.
3. Ichiba has had big QC issues
4. S5 hubs - ??? Not a lot of info at all
5. Ebay hubs - again, not much info, though they look a lot like S5

OEM is also the most expensive and if using S14 fronts of course requires the spindles, ball joints, spacers for the strut bolts, etc. I do NOT have a yard near my house with an S14 (I've looked pretty hard for one) so I can't pull parts there, and frankly new OEM is too rich for my blood even if I had the cash, so I'm looking at CS and Peak right now.

I'm curious what folks have done in the last 6-8 months on this topic. I guess the best way to ask this is, what (aftermarket) 5-lug setup are you using, and have you had a good or a bad experience?

Cheepest way is to buy z32 na rear hubs or s14 rear hubs used, and you could hope for the best and just run the wheel bearing that are already pressed in.

For the front you could be super cheap and redrill the 4lug hub to 5lug.

Or buy the ichiba hub and press out the bearing that it comes with and buy oem nissan wheel bearing and press them in.

Dousan has ichiba's on his car and some how the bearing that came from ichiba on his are still holding up (I think).

Personally, I've seen HELLA bad ichiba hubs, so that's why I suggested pressing oem bearing in from the start.

i had the s14 rouute before which worked fantastic before

and previuos to that on my first s13 i used some conversion hubs as well (i forget what brand it was like 4+ yrs ago)

I just converted my S13 with all S14 OEM stuff, OEM usually runs a bit more expensive, but from what I have read on here that the after market hubs are hit or miss.(Heard good things gto/attain hubs though)

+1 for Attain. i'm using Attain fronts with oem rears and don't have a problem (i didn't get the Attains all around)

i purchased 2 sets of fronts from Raretrick years ago through a groupbuy when they were still around. they were $360/shipped or something each for the front. now there are cheaper options like ichiba, peak, etc.

I am running Peak fronts, oem S14 rear. I scored a set of brand new factory bearings for my rears for like $70 yup don't ask how, they just popped up in the classified section and I picked them up from a guy in Salinas. New in the box.
So I wound up with fresh bearings all the way around.

Z32 rears and still 4-lug in the front. Extended studs all around.

I'll swap the front soon but still haven't decided 100% how. I'm waiting patiently for an S14 to land in my lap.

UNISA, thanks for the offer, but one of the reasons I'm attracted to the aftermarket setups (especially CS) is that they're supplied with long wheel studs.

I appreciate all the input so far - any other thoughts? Especially on the Circuit Sport hubs?

S5, after properly pressing them into the bearing... no spinny. i know i did it right, how can you not? i recommend no S5 hubs. i'm just gonna say fuck it and run them real hard until they wear out enough to spin easily. i dont care anymore plus i've been drinking.

This just in - the Circuit Sports Gen 2 hubs are not yet available, and no ETA whatsoever, according to both Phase2 and FRSport.

Ichiba is out, as far as I'm concerned. Still trying to gather info on the Ebay setups:

It's that or try to find OEM parts, with the balljoints and all that BS, and then get longer studs to install.

I've seen people redrill the front hubs, and I haven't heard of any long-term issues, but what about the rears? Is there enough meat on the hub to pull this off, and if you do will the 5 lug rotors work with s13 calipers?
Haven't looked into this, so please forgive me if the answer is obvious from looking at the parts!

More news - since I'm not into waiting possibly months for the CS Gen 2 I started to do more research on getting used OEM rears and Peak or Attain fronts. Now I'm sorry I turned UNISA down, his set is sold :(

Anyway, I've now found that in addition to the CS arriving "sometime," the Attain front setup is backordered from JDM-land. Yay. It got too late and Enjuku's closed, more on the Peaks tomorrow.

FYI, the guys at Phase2 say they hope the CS will be available "by the end of the quarter," meaning the end of September. I guess I just picked the wrong time to do this...

i think ebays are s5 hubs. if you want to save on the five lug swap re drill your front hubs to 5 lug by using a 5 lug rotor as a template and just buy the rears. alot of people have done this and havent had any problems.

z32 rears, ichiba up front...i packed the bearings that came with the ichibas with moly grease. everything is holding up...then again, i don't track my car......yet.

Attain/GTO's if you could find them are also a great alternative. I had ichiba's but the bearings blew after a year or so. I was going to replace the ichiba bearings w/factory oem bearings pressed in like !Zar! posted but I found a set of Attain/GTO's so I got those instead and they're holding up well so far.

Phase2.com sells what you need, a company called agency power makes them... The spacers just fill the large holes on the S14 spindle so your smaller S13 bolts will fit without any play... I just installed my 5lug setup with these spacers and they seem to work as described so far....

i'm using s13 s5 hubs and they aren't bad. they use oem bearings, so i trust the bearings.

other than bearings failing, what else could go wrong? studs..

studs have been holding up, but they aren't long, just stock length.

oh, the ONLY problem i had was fitting the cover in the center of the hub, for the nut. with a 2x4 i could tap it in eventually.
