ok so i was putting new tension rods yesterday and just decided to look at everything and i noticed that the end of my drive shaft, closer to the diff, is scratched around the whole thing taking bits of metal off..its a one piece alumi. and it looks like its rubbing against my resonator on my exhaust...could there be too much drive shaft runout or is my exhaust is bouncing and hitting the driveshaft? i get a vibrating and rubbing noise at around 2500 on decel and it sounds/feels like the driveshaft...

Sounds like your exhaust is too close to the driveshaft, or you are missing hangers, or it is loose, or it is the wrong damn exhaust for the car, or it is a cheap ass muffler shop exhaust, etc......

alright lets elimnate things...too close (pretty close),missing hangars (no,but stock), wrong exhaust/cheap (na, s14 hks hi-power turbo-version)...stock hangars are pretty damn shitty and loose so im gonna throw some nismo hangars on,got some somewhere around the house, then ill work from there i guess...

Shake the exhaust from under the car, you'll be able to see if it's hitting. You can try new rubber, but adding hangars might be the best way to go. A muffler shop can fix that problem for ya :)

I read your post and was going to ask you if you had an HKS hi power exhaust...
I was on the dyno today and the straps in the back pushed up the exhaust in such a way that it rubbed on the driveshaft. Check all your exhaust hangers and tighten all the bolts to get it back into line. All my stuff was tight but the straps pushed on it enough to get it high enough.
There isn't much clearance, but get under the car somehow and move the exhaust around a bit. see where you might need to adjust placement and go from there.

Too much drivetrain movement. Check engine and gearbox mounts.

ill check the movement of the exhaust in the morning...i have cusco motor mounts and a peak performance trans bushing so mounts are solid for sure lol

Mine was rubbing with crappy stock exhaust hangers/bushings.
Swapped them with Nismo hangers, done deal.
No more rubbing.
Exhaust doesn't move at all.

If you find nothing on the exhaust, check the motor mounts again and make sure they're torqued down.
