thinking about getting either a snake or gecko for my next pet. when i move i'm emptying my fish tank into a 55G, so i'll have an empty 10g. who's got what? i'd like something that will stay small, under four feet fully grown. and i like when they wrap around your arm. my understanding is milk snakes won't do that? can anybody confirm? because milk snakes look badass.

here's a sweet ball python. i think i'd like a white/gray snake that looks like urban camo, that'd be rad

One-eyed ones count? :keke:

I've always wanted a pet snake, but I don't think
I'll ever get one.

my buddy works construction and came across some highly poisonous rattlesnake (illegal to keep as pets) it now resides in my livingroom... I feel like my house is quickly becoming the animal planet.

i used to have some snakes. if you want one that look like that python in the picture i would get a King Snake. they have red eyes and the same coloring at that python in the first post. they only get 3-4 feet long depending on their environment. they eat mice :)

I've owned two pets, one red tail boa and the other a Burmese python. I got the red tail when he was around 2 feet and skinnier than a golf ball, got rid of him when he was pushing 5.5 feet and a lot bigger. The burmese I got at 5 feet, was pushing 7 when he passed and he was only 5 years old.

Snakes are super cool for the first two months, chicks hate them but love them, and they only good if they are mild mannered. Both of my snakes where epic. They tolerated parties, a lot of contact and ate a ton. General care is easy, feed em, they poop and its smallish, then they shed and the skin is flaky if they are dry. I would love the cage open for the 7 footer, and he weighed probably 50-70 pounds, and would just cruise around hte apartment and go outside on the lawn and sunbath. He almost ate a cat once, but we caught him beforehand.

All in all, small snakes suck. Their food is tiny, which equals tiny strikes and not as much handling. Snakes are like fish in that they need a pretty constant heat source and lots of water. Get one, but get one that is even mannered and not aggressive and also one that is fairly common in case of literature or vet care. I say go for it, I only dumped mine because the fiance told me too.

ball python, I have 3, large female is about 5 or 6yrs old and only around 4ft. 2 younger ones are 2 to 3 years old, about 2 1/2ft. Easy to take care of, very tame and dont get pissed when alot of ppl handle them, never bitten anyone or striked at me. Just dont smell like a rat/mouse when you pick em up and your good. lol

lol.

In all reality though, small constrictos ftw.

You want action?

Get the pet snake and throw those other poor motherfuckers you already own into the same space, grab a beer and let the good times roll.

Thats my snake when I first got him. He got a lot bigger and fatter. He was big enough to worry about kids and leaving him alone, we actually where going to start feeding him chickens/big ass rabbits but he had a medical thing and died.

Handle the snakes beforehand and make sure they are ok wtih sudden movements and other things that may provoke a strike.

I've had geckos too when I was younger, and they are awesome too, they just dont get as big and you can lose them easy if they get out. It is hard to lose a 7 foot snake that is fatter than a football. Plus, the snake was cool because I took it to schools and stuff and kids ate it up, just make sure they are fed recently so they dont eat anyone.
