Who all makes slotted rotors for 5-lug s14s? I don't want cross-drilled, just slotted. I can find fronts all day, but even though rear brakes don't do a whole lot, rolling on mis-matching rotors is just fail.

you don't need slotted rotors anyways
run blanks, they are better

Huh?

Slotted rotors helps cool down the rotor and pads (more surface area) and lets brake gases and dust escape from under the brake itsself, helping to prevent brake fade and cool down the brakes faster.

to the OP: IDK? EBC maybe? I'll look around.

88 rotors on zilvia

What?

EBC is a no-go. Unless all 5-lug s14s had ABS (which mine doesn't), they don't even have front rotors for my s14.

try here:
NISSAN : 240SX - RacingBrake.com (http://www.racingbrake.com/NISSAN_240SX_s/251.htm)

these may actually be the ones you need but im not sure:
Brake Rotor (Slot) - 240SX (5 LUG) REAR 89-98 (http://www.racingbrake.com/240SX_5_LUG_REAR_89_98_p/9063-111.htm)

or these:

On shitty pads, yes. Anyone running a quality pad doesn't have to worry about outgassing.

As for as cooling, they benefits of a slight bit of vane in the rotor versus the removal of more material with could withstand heat longer is negligible. It's been said a million times, slotted rotors are simply for looks. There's no proven data they perform better in real World scenarios, unless again you're running shitty organic pads that break down faster than a compost heap.

Any advantage in surface area is minimal
There is less mass, obviously.

Take a pizza.
Punch a buncha slots thru it.
You have less pizza now

Pizza starting mass - mass of slots removed = less pizza than you started out with

Mass is where the heat goes
less mass is less place for heat to go
heat stays
rotor doesn't cool

run the blanks

you could counter the loss of mass from slotting by getting a larger diameter rotor, but thats more work

Well, then why aren't radiators solid blocks of aluminum?

I realize that the way brakes cool and radiators cool is completely different, but I just wanted to say that.

And lets please not get terribly off topic here. All I really wanted was to find some slotted rotors. Sure they may only be good for looks, but who gives a damn? Its my car.

That being said, this thread is done.
