If its actually manufactured by MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries), I doubt its crap like the guy above me so eloquently claims that it is.
An mitsu 18g can flow quite a bit of air. I would say probably slightly more than a 2871r.

he doesn't know shit. that turbo its very similar to the forcedperformance 20G i had. i was making good power with that turbo. u sure make 350whp with that 18G . but if u looking for more power get the GT2871.

If you're gonna drop that much on a turbo, get the gt2871r.

Mitsu=Eclipse
Eclipse=GST/GSX
GST/GSX=DSM
DSM=Daily Service and Maintenance.
Therefore, Mistu turbos are crap lol.
Nah in all actuality, Mistsubishi makes some good turbos. WAYYY better than ebay brand china turbos.
If your looking for a turbo for 700, then get a gt2871r.

if you guys think MHI turbos are crap, then i guess greddy/trust turbos are too then..
they are the SAME thing, only with names on them..
greddy takes MHI turbos, stamps their name on a compressor housing, throws it on, and sells for ALOT more.. and you are getting the same thing..
the 18g is a decent turbo man... id get a 20g if you were looking for bit over 400 tho

All MHI turbo's from 2003+ are made in China. Joint venture called Shanghai MHI Turbocharger. Seeing no build plates and they claim from Japan?

i am looking for a bit over 300hp with really good response. was looking at the S15 turbos but brand new they want $800+ and i would top out at 300hp max if not a little lower. Thats why i was thinking 18g not the 20g. anyhow is this a bolt on piece anyway? it looks like it would just bolt to the stock t2 manifold and exhaust elbow/downpipe and compressor elbows, correct me if i am wrong, i have no experience with these style turbos though.
SexPanda: where are gt2871r turbos going for $700?

I have the Mitsu TD06SH-20G. It's been running great for over three years now without problems. It spools at 3400 RPM's. If the one you are buying isn't a knockoff, I think you'll get the results you want.

if you want response and not looking to make more than 350hp the a gt28rs would do the trick its what i have and it has fantastic reponse. I think that spending a lot on a trubo isnt a bad thing, as long as you get a quality part. I would never go cheapo on a turbine.

I considered the GT28RS its just crazy how much they are going for. So thats why i looked into the S15 GT28R only problem there is it caps out right at or under 300hp. so i looked at the GT2871R cause its almost the same price as the GT28RS and supposedly the response is hardly noticeable and you have the ability to go 400hp or so. I haven't heard much about the MIH turbos so i figured maybe they would be a good alternative. Plus my Brother in Law works for Mitsubishi and i was thinking that maybe he can somehow get cost on it if he looked into it for me.

Why do you care that you MUST be over 300hp anyway?
I've seen S15 turbos put down like 315rwhp with cams/intake/FMIC/good tune, isn't that what you're looking for?
I mean, honestly, you said "just a tad over 300hp".
Ok...?
300hp to the wheels? 300hp to the flywheel?
Seriously, what is this "must be over 300hp" business?
We're not talking about girls here, and 300hp isn't really like the age of 18 for a female is it?

Um mistu makes some of the best turbo's on the market.. Do some research.. They also make like every single electronic on our cars and every other japanese car... Stock 16g evo 8 turbo Is good for up to 27 psi! And spools super fast! Spools like 500 rpm later than t28 and t25 but when It does. By by t25/t28's... Get the Evo green 20g and run meth.. For 240 that's more than enough

* Made, MHI turbos are made by Shanghai Diesel now.
* Most of the electronics on our cars are made by Hitachi.
* Ask anyone with a DSM how horrible Mitsu electronics are.
* 14g spools fast, everything else is laggy
* Flow>PSI
* FP no longer uses MHI parts to make their turbos. Get parts from Japan, Canada and a couple other places. MHI is more interested in making cheap turbos for OEM's.

SoSideways: the only reason why i am thinking over 300hp is because i want something that is comparable acceleration wise with newer sporty cars and i want something that is responsive. i dont care about crazy amounts of power so thats why i am settling on 300hp.
Thats what i saiiiid!
