Just bought the car and previous owner trashed the front lip. Any suggestions? Should i sand it and repaint it? Better off buying a new one? Should i paint it red to match my car or leave it gray as it was before?

Anybody know why there are holes in the front lip? Why not make it solid...maybe even angled a bit more.
but for my answer...
I sanded mine and painted it dark grey (close to stock). I think it'd be too hard to match the red.
Don't try to get it perfect with the sanding though. I can't tell from your pic, but mine had some pretty deep gashes and I just sanded what I could and left the gashes as is and had it painted.
I've hardly scratched it since it's been painted...I dono how the previous owner did it but mine was trashed when I got the car too.

Yeah I figured if I tried to sand it and make it smooth I would end up taking too much material off. You said you had it painted? How much did that cost you?
BTW: thanks for replying on both forums. lol
:) i'm a whore
My neighbor painted it for me. He has professional painting stuff and happened to have a little left of a very similar to stock color so he painted it for me for free. With a front lip, you could get away with a nice spray painting though...I don't think it'd look bad at all if you did it well.

I'm assuming the holes are just aesthetics. Mine was all scratched, scraped, and scuffed to hell when I got my car too. The whole bottom of the lip was all spiderweb cracked too. I just filled in the spiderwebs with bondo and sanded it smooth, and now it looks new. As for painting it, I'd just go with grey color similar to the stock color.

my car didnt come with a lip, but i bought it from another zilvia member for $15 =P it wasnt as bad as yours, but it was still pretty bad. i sanded as much as i could and just painted it with gloss black. it looked good for a couple days but the paint chipped so i use to repaint it all the time, but i gave up. take it to get it painted with good paint. once you get it painted you can hardly see the gashes, from my experience.

I'd be interested in the stock front lip if anyone is willing to sell theirs.

I just got a front lip yesterday (tue.)
for $20. It was in about the condition
of yours in the pic (though the shaved off
part from hitting curbs on mine wasnt as bad)
and I just sanded off the particles that were
ruff making it smooth but leaving the deep gashs
rinsed it off and spraid it with plasti-kote bumper & trim
spray (black) that I picked up at autozone.
Turned out nice, I'm gonna take a picture of
my car tommorow with the lip on and will post
if you want it to show you what your after picture
would be after about 30 min of work. But yeah
more or less mine looked like yours before I started
on it.
Oh yeah, everyone hold on to those mounting brackets
that hold the front lip on. Those damn things are $46 each
at Nissan for the smaller one. Mine was missing the middle
bracket so I just got some washers and screws for a $1
and made due.
