hey nissan fiens ,
im doing a rwd sr20de swap, using the ka harness, i cant find a plug to plug in the knock sensor, or i cant find a guide from those whove done it, that says what to wire it into...
any ideas?

I will take a picture of my ka harness running off of my ka ecu, but I don't think the knock sensor is used if I recall correctly.

is that a bad thing?

Look up a thread started by NissanTuner22.
He detailed all the stuff I did to his harness to make the DOHC KA harness work with the SR20DE swap, and also where it could have been made prettier if you actually took the time to take the harness out, eliminate/cut/shorten wires, or lengthen wires.

^^^ what he said... actually I was nice and searched for it out of curiousity.
Post #84 is the wiring description...

is there any point to the sr20de swap?? would this be a downgrade from the ka?? just curious

For just swapping to a SR20DE, I think most agree that it's not worth the hassle. But, if your planning on turboing the SR20DE, then there are a few that think it's worth it... especially when you look at the overall cost.
Here's mine... stock DE, T28, S3 cams, running on a KA harness and a sentra JWT ECU. Runs at 14psi daily and is driven on track monthly

yes and no. SR20DE are more square then KA24DEs. With the SR20DE, there will be alot less grunt for daily driving due to the fact that it is smaller displacement and shorter stroke. The plus side is it'll rev higher and make over all more power.

he doesnt say anything about a knock sensor...ive read his thread, thats why im going with the ka harness

good stuff. i never heard of this being done until now. so im betting the sr20de has higher compression than the det?? soooo more power with lower boost than the det?

wouldn't exactly say more power on lower boost. It would just take less work from the turbo for the motor to output the same torque.

i did it because of cost, its soo much cheaper, i bought my motor for 700 , but you can get a motorset from jgycustoms for 1k, i bought stock det turbo parts and a ecu for 410, clutch 300, smic 125,
ive been doing some research and i looked up a wiring guide for a 91 240, and it says the knock sensor white wire is the signal wire

From what I've read, the wires (KA and SR) are the same color, you just need to swap over the SR plug to the KA harness.

any more detail on what colors i should splice into on the ka harness, also on another note...
you know the brake booster line, and the fitting for it that goes into the intake plenum, well i broke my fitting, any idea on what kinda of replacement i could use?

If I have time to look at the car when I get home I could tell you... not sure if that will happen since were leaving for a 5 day Portland trip as soon as I get off work.

stock compression is 9.5:1 and of course there is a huge weight reduction with swapping to the sr20de, so roughly the same HP and a little less torque but a more rev happy motor and reduction in weight=fun.
A guy down in San Jose (DGR Fabrication) does the swaps all day in 510's and boosts them. He said only running 5psi would result in very similar number to the 7psi running on the sr20det. but of course there aren't any oil squirters, so the engine doesn't run quite as well when under high amounts of boost.

I really think the higher CR has more to do with the motor not running right (detonation) at higher boost than the lack of oil piston squirters.

Hmm.... I guess all the pics are down. I remember he used to have pics in his post that showed what he was talking about.
The sheathed white wire that's connected to ECU pin #27 on the KA harness, that's the knock sensor signal wire. The black wire that's on the plug, that's the ground wire, that grounds the sheathing.
Pretty sure that plug should just plug right into the SR's knock sensor plug. If not, just switch out the plug body by removing the pins, and just swap the KA one out for the SR one.
