A good amount of a oil spilled in my car and was wondering the best way to clean it off the carpet? Made someone else had some oil from a oil quart spill in their car and had some tips to clean it.

Thanks.

Remove excess oil or grease by blotting or scraping.
Place a sheet of butcher paper or a portion of a brown paper bag on the stain, glossy side up.
Gently press the tip of a warm iron over the affected area.
Lift the paper from the carpet after the paper has absorbed the grease.
Apply carpet shampoo with a moist sponge if any residual stains remain.
Wipe away the carpet shampoo foam with a clean, dry towel.

the "best" way to do it would be to remove the carpet and pressure wash it with some mild detergent

you may even have to dye it which is a good idea once its out and it will look like new

if thats too extreme,do what phlip suggested

I've had luck soaking the area with simple green, then using one of those green machine carpet cleaners with hot water in it.
Came out pretty clean in the end.

i did google and i found a couple things. but i figure i would try the forums too since someone may have a better idea or another solution to try.

i already started blotting and applying a cleaning solution to the carpet but its pretty dark outside for me to see how well it cleaned. just kept dabbing until white cloth stopped turning yellowish.

Okay so i lifted the carpet up today to see if any oil had some how seeped through but i forgot that the carpet has a bottom plastic/vinyl layer but still decided to check. SO i had some degreaser and decided to spray a little bit on the floor. HUGE mistake. FREAKING made a mess of things. Is the floor lining beneath the carpet covered in OIL?! When i sprayed some of the degreaser it made it seem like oil was lifting up everywhere? Any ideas?

Oxy Clean, for reals. Billy Mays knows his shit. Be careful though, the part of the carpet you clean will be much cleaner than the rest of the carpet. From the look of what you said is on the plasitc liner, though, you should probably remove the carpet and clean it properly.
