alright, i might be getting some actual seat time real soon! :2f2f:
so i was thinking, i live in las vegas where the norm temperature is around 90-105 degrees. your car literally warms up in minutes...
so i was thinking of the best way to help my car deal with the stress of drifting in the track.
i was thinking of replacing my whole coolant/antifreeze and flushing the block, and adding distilled water and redline water wetter. im sure that cant do any harm.
also, my car burns oil pretty fast id say. maybe a quart every 1000-1500 miles or so.. the damn thing has over 200,000 miles on it. im running some synthetic blend/high mileage 10w40 from valvoline. i was thinking of switching to 20w50.. ive searched but most of the threads i have found are for SR engines, and im not sure if they apply to KA?
some people have said thick oil is bad for lifters, but i actually read my 1991 nissan manual and it says it is appropriate to use 20w50 on temperatures ranging from 0-110 degrees. so what are your thoughts about running thick oil for some track time?
things ive heard are thick oil is good, they pack the bearings. then again, i also heard that there is more friction and drag between surfaces which in turn heats up more..
