have you guys ever seen a 240sx drop on the shocks only no springs.
if you have seen it and maybe even have a picture that would be a plus..

what? so you want to have no springs on your car? that's a terrible idea and it will break stuff and the ride will be worse than shit.
holy shit are you serious. i know some VW guys use to do it but come on dumping a car with no springs is just stupid your only risking bending your body and fucking up your car. if your not going to lower your car even remotly the correct way dont modify it at all!

wow thats a lot of neg rep on this, just a thought geez... I don't know if its true or not but i heard it would be super stiff without the springs,

im not going to give you neg rep, but maybe you should think about the things you say. you kinda need shocks. its like asking someone to run an sr without pistons.

Considering the shocks would immediately blow, I'd guess it would be like replacing your suspension with steel bars. Prepare to piss blood.

the only reason i ask this was because a buddy of mind told me i should drop my 240 so it can look better and that i should take out the springs instead of taking the time to cut it plus to have that even drop. so i thought ill ask the guys on zilvia befor ill try it. but after reading this im not going to do that..
thank you illvialuver for your comment, it seems logical.
plus car is for sell if intrested LMK.
90 fastback 5 speed..

Your buddy is either messing with you or incompetent.
It doesn't seem like you thought this out at all. Just thinking about car suspension for even a moment should reveal just how stupid this idea is.

Haha I did that as a joke after all my shocks blew and I was waiting for my coilovers. Rode on the bump stops around the block, I thought all my windows were going to break.

The guy meant retaining OEM shocks with an aftermarket spring setup.
Some companys like tein provide springs for other cars to be used with OEM shocks, however the spring rate isnt increase by much, and the drop is close to .5"-1.0"
I dont see how our strut setup is much different - MacPherson Struts

Im not too keen on the valves on the nissans but anything more than a 1" drop WILL need a setup properly valved with the proper travel. The spring rate/force will rip a shocks valves apart if the rate is too high, which is the case with most aftermarket springs.
I think koni/GC are a decent combo. I personally dont like the slammed look anymore, a 1-2" gap from the tire-fender is good enough for me.
Do not cheap out on suspension. Get a used setup if anything

Thats how my Ghia was slammed :)
no springs.
It was awsome.
Those spikes that they have at parking lot exits, they would scrap the entire underside of the car. so low!! lol

but its a bad Idea for a 240 unless its strickly for HIN or something. Glad you learned though, so I turned your 7 red squares into 8 green :)

wow this is the first Ive heard of this!....just seems so bad bc the springs are supporting the weight of the vehicle and the shocks only control the oscillations of the vehicle movement...

Well I do remember seeing a picture of one years ago, it looked so low that it seemed like it was sitting on the frame, none the less, very very bad idea

Since I recieved alot of Posi rep and comments on my pictures in my album, I guess you guys like my Ghia.
Here are the only other 2 pics I have after the computer crash.
i sold the car on ebay for 1550.00 to some guy from LaPaz Mexico and bought my S13.

And heres how flush the front was,

Lotta bondo on the car. super strong engine though. Carpet, seats and a dash. plus a little radio. So I used to leave the windows down everywere I went, and no one ever messed with it.
i even drifted it on a freeway interchange going 70+mph, 150ft + drift!!
on accident :-/
It was raining, so i figured i better let off on the 405 north to 101 south/east interchange. Its a 4 speed with mad camber in the rear. so the inner part of the tires were bald, and being in 4th gear at 70 something, it clutch lock initiated.
It got sideways and i countered, kept my foot mildly on the gas, when it set, i locked the brakes and prolly lost about 20mph. Let off the brake while facing the inside wall.
It was sureal, i could see all kinds of debrie flying by as the headlights showed me the giant wall going by at about 50mph, 30 feet in front of me.
I let off the brake, and slowly put my foot back on the gas as the rear started to grab and the car slowly cam back around. It came out of the drift perfectly.
i was fucking amazed. didnt know how to drift back then, but wanted a 240 to start. finished getting on the 101, called my homie and went apeshit on the phone!!!
lol
total thread Jack, but its dead anyways :)
i would love to own another. but sadly my daily will prolly be a vert or cressy. cool cars, but not the flavor of that Ghia :(
