at first change the o2 cause it was the only sensor that was wrong then i just put a header and know its running super rich....shooting flames, glowing red header, super bad gas mileage, smell of gas.......any way one of my budys told me it could be the ignition timing that was wrong???

when i took the stock header out a peace of the cat just came off and was clogging the exhaust real bad???

need help please.....thx josh:)

check engine light? when you installed the headers, did you connect the egr system back up?

could be injectors or spark plugs.

as for that piece of cat, it came out of the header ? usually you'd only get backfire from not running a cat.

not true.
I used to get backfire with a 3" catback. Still had stock everything.

So... the car is stock?

backed up cat. I'd still check the timing anyway, takes like 2 minutes. Like addicted said i still get backfire with my cat on and 2.25 piping. Id also change the coolant temp sensor,if it isnt working right the car might stay in closed loop causing the car to run rich.Clean the mass air flow sensor. Also check your spark plugs, cap and rotor to see if they are still good.

If you were just running rich your exhaust would be cooler as unburnt fuel would cool it.

I agree with the ignition timing being off. When it's to retarded the fuel doesn't fully burn before the exhaust valves open. Shooting super hot burning gasses into the exhaust. Melting your cat in the process.

oh like the peice that came out it wasn't when i took the header out it was already clogged ...i just decided to take a look and i just saw it...it was like the metal packing that's in the cat that just came off and clogged the end of the cat
