Im hoping to finish my swap tomorrow and had a few questions.
Do you need to wire up the fifth & neutral position switches to drive the car ? What are the switches for/what do they do ?
Also Im have a hard time understanding the wiring part( S14 Tranny Swap - Electrical Connections (http://www.ka24development.com/cwilfert/S14_tranny_swap_electrical.html#neutral%20position %20switch) ). It says in order to start the car you need to: The Top Connector Of The Group Of Wiring Harnesses From The Automatic Transmission Must Be Jumpered Together In Order For The Car To Start
How do you do that ? I believe there are three wires, do you connect each one to its self ? Is that jumping it to its self ?
Do you need the second connector down for any thing ? Can you un plug it and leave it ?
And last, when you hook up the reverse lights. Do you just wire the two green & black wires to the switch or do you need the connector part of the switch ? Can you bypass it and go directly to the switch ?
Thanks for the help.

I went directly to the switch on my s13 5spd. No problems at all.

ok when you do the auto/manual you need to use your ka auto trans harness still but cut some connectors off the sr harness (you may know that already) like the reverse lights, splice the ka speedo wires to sr speedo, and maybe + alt cable.
my swap was an s14 auto w/ s13 redtop manual.
heres the jumpered top connector:

heres the reverse lights (green and black wires):

you use the same lower ka connectors for the alternator and starter:

So when you jump the wires you just connect them to each other ?

yup and that completes your starter circuit keeping it constant.. but dont start the car in gear cause you dont need to have the clutch in!

These do not need to be connected. 5speed switch and nuetral are not hooked up on my car and she goes fine.

I am gonna tell you what I currently have on my car....
I did 5 speed conversion on my s14s, which have both S14 KA and s14 s14 SR20DET in both cars.....
With an s14 KA24DE, I use an s13 tranny, which has 4th and 5th (Overdrive) gear tranny sensors; however, s14 tranny only comes with 5th (Overdrive)........
I currently don't wire those sensors to the ECU and the car runs without any problem......
So, I suggest that you should wire those sensors if you could......However, without those sensors, the car will run with out any issues......
The only sensor you have to wire is the speed sensor (VSS).....without this sensor, you speedometer will not work.....

They're also not connected because the wiring doesn't exist in an auto chassis.

FYI 5 gear switch does not need to be connected !! All it does is tell the ECM that the car is in 5th gear to imply the speed limiter !!
