Chrome Plating

Ok before I get bashed for posting it in the wrong section (if I did), or asking a question that has been asked 100X over I did a search for it and came up empty handed. Does anyone have a chrome plated valve cover and if so how much does it cost to plate it. I have an extra SR20 valve cover that I would like to get plated but I know I will have to ship to the states because it will be cheaper than doing it in Japan. If you have a local plating shop in your area can you let me know what type of job they do and how much it will cost. I have emailed a few people from websites done by google and I keep getting a 400.00 (est) price tag for it. I am not looking to spend that much on it, but if thats the average cost I will probably send it off to get painted.

A few hundred is probably about right, getting stuff chromed is not cheap there is a lot of prep involved.

yea, for just my wheel faces that had old oxidized peeling chrome to get the chrome taken off, it was ~40-60 an hour and 3-5 hours per wheel(which i didnt pay and my wheels are still sitting in my garage almost stripped by hand after a year). so putting it on would probably take longer so yea you're looking at 300-400 for it. just go get it powdercoated with the chromecoat shit or whatever its called for like $80.

My older brother runs a chrome shop here in southern california. I dont know the exact price but yeah these guys are right chroming invloves many steps and lots of labor hours. Im pretty sure thhat $400 price is about right. If you are really interested in having your valve cover shipped over here just let me know and I will talk to my brother.
