Well, it was making a funny noise, so i took it to the garage.

The mechanic said the engine needs to be replaced.
He quoted me $2500.

Im not sure what to do. i bought the car for 2 grand like 6 months ago, i think i may end up trying to find someone who will buy. And go without a car for as while. :(

had to vent.

that's a pretty crazy price... people sell used KA's on here, and I've seen DE's for as low as $200 w/tranny (you'd still need a harness and ECU, though). I can't imagine it would be more than $600-700 tops for a motor, and then you could do the work yourself to save on cash, I guess. I mean, for that kind of cash you can get an SR or CA .

yes you can do it much cheaper, expect to pay about 4-5 hundred for the motor and the ecu can be had fairly cheap also if needed. the install is fairly easy if you have a picker and spare time. If not find a buddy or a reliable mechanic that won't charge you too much.

He just said you need a new motor? Did he tell you what happened? Why is it blown? Don't let him take $2500 out of your pocket, the car isn't worth that much with a running engine. What's wrong with it???

replace it yourself
new KA=600 (at most)
cherry picker=300ish

fluids parts etc (maintnenace) 200

do it yourself!!!! dont trust mechanics. they want your money! RIP OFF
tow it home and work on it there!
where you located, maybe someone can help you out with it!

that price is way out, I can get a new ka in canadian dollars for less than $800! And our dollar is CRAP!
