I've never attempted to send anything by Freight Less-Than Truck-Load (LTL) before. I tried UPS and FedEx. I even called customer service to figure how to get an estimate but there aid seemed incorrect they gave me estimates of over $800 just for shipping a carbon kevlar hood and hatch from Cali to lower East coast.
Can you guys help me out how to figure freight shipping?
Thanks Bros...

i bought a hood from new york once off of egay.
cost me 120dllrs for shipping the hood. and was a regular oem hood too.
was sent via ups.
maybe the operator put both the hood and hatch as one item or something.
best bet is, measure the hood as a square, and add like 5 inches (for packaging) and the same for the hatch.
weigh them (or get weight from manufacturer)
and go online and get a quote.
thats what i always do.

The best bet for the trunk is going to be shipped via freight.
The hood can be shipped UPS or Freight. Both items are Class 250. When shipping freight, everything goes by a class.
You should try out a few services like unishippers & freightquote. I have never heard of Uship but I'm sure it is the same idea.
I would roughly look at 200 per item since your shipping coast to coast.

I did measure the hood and hatch as a square and did mention to the customer service operator about additional space to be added for the packaging and box. I also got the weight and was on-line getting the quote.

My attempt at getting an estimate was with FedEx or UPS freight (LTL) and I did class my items under 250 (as advised by the customer service operator). My pending buyer and I agreed just like you that about $200 is the going rate. That is why I posted this for any help you guys can share.
I will try unishippers, freightquote, and Uship. Thanks a bunch Bros I appreciate all the advice keep them coming I want to make sure I don't run into this annoying problem again.

Try freightquote.com for sure.
I've used it in the past on numerous times.

current shipping prices are through the ceiling of late. Short of small items larger stuff has just become stupid expensive. I have seen engine shipping prices go up close to a couple of hundred dollars. Good luck with finding a good price on shipping the hood larger body items are like the worst for shipping.

Yeppers.
Currently it's over 400 dollars to ship an 800 pound enigne to the West Coast from Us. Washington is the worst.

Thanks everyone for all the information and advice. You're all a huge help!
Yeah, I used to work for UPS and if the boxes could only speak and tell the many horror stories. The floor supervisors and management are a joke. The customer service is always at half-ass. Kind of surprised to hear the same for FedEx..
Well, anyways thanks again!!!!

Try uship.com, the its set up like an ebay shipping service where the truckers bid on shipping your item. Also, check with greyhound bus, they ship items. Probably looking at about $60 a piece going with greyhound but you have to drop off and pick up at your nearest bus station
