so i have been searching for some gauges for my car and i really only need an oil pressure and oil temp gauge, i have a wide band (aem uego) boost gauge (greddy profec e-01) which i can also use to display any other source, and a Greddy mss for water temp, so i was trying to get the most bang for the buck, i was looking at the greddy sm integrate gauges but dam!!! then there is the defi set-up, and the initial cost is a little high, b/c u have to buy the "head-unit" as well as the gauges, if i go this route i might as well get an egt. Other then the greddy and defi what else do you guys recomend?

i would look at some of those Omori gauges.
you can usually get them cheap on ebay. excellent quality gauge too
Go Defi - they're worth it.

those x-lines are great as a cheap start. but as i found out they cant take the vibrations from solid motor and tranny mounts.
just something to think about.

i have to agree with that my brackets come loose once in a while with my cusco motor mounts and peak performance tranny mount mostly the motor mount tho

my oil pressure and water temp. quit on me. they would light up and flash, but the hands quit swipping. its like they get stuck or some shit. for a lil wile i could tap them a lil and the hands would move, now, dead. the boost still works great, cuz its run off of vac.
so long story short, you get what you pay for.

but defi's are really nice
my personal favorites though are the greddy black lights though

Three months ain't that long, bro.

Yep. I've heard nothing but good about these and they're on Ebay quite often. They don't do all the fancy opening sweep shit, but they'll tell you what the hell your car's doing and they're reliable. Which is the whole point of having a gauge.
If you want quality AND a fireworks show, spend the money on Defis.

I just use Autometer Ultra Lite
blue racer gauges don't need a box to work. They just released the white racer and red racer gauges too. I rather go with Defi for ~$20 bux more than the electric stri gauges.

oh i was under the impression that all the defi gauges required a "head unit"
in that case i may just get the blue racer unless there is a signifigant benifit to getting the bf imperial
Not all, the blue racer and the above ones I mentioned is their newer line. They do not need the Defi Controller Unit. Blue,Red, and White racer line come in 52mm so you are able to fit them into gauge pods without having to trim them. I just installed a blue racer on my g/f s14 ka-t, works great, looks pimp, and its a Defi. Only benifit I can see to use the BF Imperial is if you were to run multiple gauges. The control unit would make for a cleaner install and enable the user to adjust brightness on all gauges at a central unit.
