For thoes of your with Ka24det's I have some questions.

If you have stock pistons what is the highest psi you have ran at? (list mods plz)

If you have aftermarket pistons what is your compression ratio and what is the highest psi you have ran at? (list mods plz)

Where did you get your turbo manifold?

If you made your own turbo manifold can you make me one?
(if so name $$$)

Were did you get your turbo and what type/size is it?

If you can plz name any problems that your have had as an outcome from turboing the Ka

Thank anyone for there help...

There's no such thing as a KA24DET, just turbocharged KAs :P

Anyhow, I don't have one but here's what I've gleamed from the forums:

Supports 5-7 psi on factory fuel systems, 12-15 on stock bottom end (the rods are the weak point iirc).

Most common turbo manifold seems to be the RevHard, though a few guys have gone custom or with FMAX's log style manifold.

Most common turbo tends to be a t3 or t3/t4 hybrid. I don't know much else about turbos, so I can't comment anymore on their specs.

Jeff240sx will have more to add on stock tolerances of boost. . .

The stock rods aren't the problem. The thin ring lands on the stock pistons are the problem. They don't take detonation at all.

I have run 15psi on my stock internals, and made 350rwhp. I am on the edge of the limit. Stock fuel system supports about 4psi, with an FMU, it'll be good till about 7psi. I have 50lb injectors, a JWT ECU, and Granatelli Cobra MAF.

I have the unStable Hybrids manifold, which I helped build, since I work there. Building your own log style manifold isn't that expensive. $40 worth of weld els...then however much you spend for flanges. It is labor intensive though, and you have to know how to weld.

T3/T4 .63 A/R turbine with stage 3 wheel. 50 trim compressor in .50 A/R housing is probably the best bet for most boost levels. I went up to the 60 trim compressor in .60A/R, and I will be stepping up to the .82 A/R turbine housing. The turbine housing should increase lag, but free up some power.

i know a guy that is running 14psi with an fmu with 550 cc injectors i think. (i may b wrong about the injector size). But he is still using the stock MAF,, i think hes nuts.. but,, its workin out well for him so far.. hasn't blown anything up, so more props 2 him.

Well I know there is no such thing as "ka24det" but you see the "t" means turbo when your dealing with engine codes. Here is an example, see non turbo sentras are sr20de and if you get the jap spec "blue bird" its the sr20det so its right to call it ka24det when you put a turbo on it. Alest thats the way I see it.

D240t2 seeing that you work at unStable Hybrids can you tell me how much you can get me a manifold for? and one more thing were did you get your turbo?

Turbo, I bought rebuilt from someone. We have a source for turbo's, and can get competitive pricing, but unless you are buying something else from us or getting us to put together a turbo kit, it is probably easier/cheaper for you to just get it elsewhere.

I was looking at that manifold on UH website and i was wondering if it air flow is smooth through the manifold. That wastegate looks like it might disrupt airflow. does it?

I'm guessing the supercharger project fell by the wayside?



As far as engine codes go, most folks here tend to go back the factory codes for the motor. No reason to discuss naming conventions any further.

Yea, pretty much what Dennis said.
Stock fuel system: 4psi (4.35 psi is ok on the weakest spring Tial has).
FMU: 7 is ok, and 9 has been done with success, but I don't suggest it. Also, at 6psi or more, you should really look into replacing your fuel pump. Adding pressure to the rail works against the stock pump, with sucks to begin with.
The ringlands are extremely thin, and with such high stock compression (9.5:1) detonation can happen very fast. Lower your compression ratio if you go with forged pistons (8.5:1 is more turbo friendly).
A t3 turbo will work, and is great for low boost, but when you approach 10psi, it starts to choke up. T3/4b is good for the mid-teens of boost, and t3/4e or straight t4 is what you want for insane boost.
I have a t3/4e setup for fast-spool and low psi for now. When I get a decent fuel system, I have larger housings in my closet.
RevHard manifold (it spits out bolts... that's my only problem with it.)
I really don't know what you wanna ask? Are you trying to setup a turbo kit? How much boost do you wanna run off what size turbo? Please be more specific, and more help will come.
BTW: My car blew up from detonation. Stay away from it. My car went 80 feet (measured) at 17psi before it died.

Yes I tying to set up a turbo kit, I hope that I will be able to run it on low boost as a dayly driver, and hope to run at a max of 25lbs wale i'm out having fun.

Umm...not quite sure how to answer that. We think it is a pretty good design overall, for the amount of work it takes. I think it is a safe bet that it isn't as good as an equal length long tubular manifold, but it is nicer than a normal log style manifold.

And yes, we have been updating our website. New products and pricing are being added as they come up.

Nobody wants to put up the money for a prototype supercharger kit. If someone did, then that project would happen. As it is right now, we have too many of our own developmental projects...so that one is on the back burner.
