I recently replaced my spark plugs. I have no idea how old they are as I just purchased this car in Feb and hardly drive it. I noticed there was oil (i think that's what it is) on the threads. This means they were fouled correct? Here are Spark #1 through #4 in order. My video card is fucked up so i cant tell how these pics came out.

that could mean that the spark plug gasket is leaking and getting oil on the plug.

Well, god forbid, but you could have some blowby, IE your rings are fried. Go ahead and do a compression test/leakdown test, and get the correct spark plugs. Those x4 sparkplugs are shit.

Fuck. I really dont need it to be that right now. I'll have the compression and leakdown test done asap. Could rings be fried after 104k miles?

Running the engine lean (too much boost) will fry your rings quickly.

I highly doubt this car was ever on boost.

check your oil level in the case, if you have too much oil that will happen. If you're lucky you can just drain some, but do a compression test. If that checks out could be your valve seals and such. And check to see if your spark plug gasket is bad, what could of happened is that oil was built up around your spark plug and when you unscrewed it, it went all over, although i highly doubt it.

Your camera have a macro mode? Cause it looks to blury for me to tell.
Who knows how old they are. Run on the new plugs for a while then check up for a more current condition.

Thats what I was thinking to do. Hopefully my alternator install goes smoothly tomorrow I'll finally be able to drive the car around. I'll pull the plugs after a week or two and see how their looking.
Thanks a lot guys.

Those are Bosch plugs right?
They're notorious for leaking compression by the insulator and what not. And was there any oil in the spark plug holes, as in maybe the valve cover gasket is leaking oil into the spark plug holes?

Funny you mention that. When I first took them out I thought "great, they used bosch plugs". I cant say for sure if there was oil in the hole but I did notice oil around the rim of the spark plug socket after I took it out of two of the holes.
